2009 C63
New Guy in Houston
I thought I should introduce myself. I have been lurking on the board for a while now, and I finally picked up a 2009 obsidian black C63 a little over two weeks ago. For a little background info, I am a reformed Cadillac driver. My previous car was a 2004 CTS-V. For the money, it really was a great car. Also, I am located in Houston and have hung out with some of the E55 guys and the Eurocharged guys. One of the first things I will be doing to the C63 is have Jerry tune it. If you haven’t had a chance to meet Jerry or any of the AMG guy in Houston, you really need to come down here for the next Texas Mile or for any other event. The Houston guys are great.
I have been doing some research, and I know that the ticking/tapping sound from the tappets and valve train is normal especially when the engine is cold. I however still get some faint ticking/tapping when the engine is completely warmed up and I have been driving for a while. You cannot hear it in the cabin, but you can faintly hear it if the window is down while being parked. I have checked the oil level, and it is right below the full mark. Does anyone think that it needs to be taken to the dealer to be checked?

Welcome to the AMG club.
I was always led to believe the tapping was normal for these
cars.
If it makes you feel better, take it to the dealer for your own
piece of mind.
My Eurocharged tune seems to be working well.

Welcome aboard. Still waiting for my vehicle to be crafted. Damn dealership said Mid November, now they say it's pushed back to January. FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU!!!
