#1 Dj in the world. Him and Armin Van Buuren often tie for the title.

Amazing dj, very talented dude. He earned that benz!

It is my understanding he had a matte vinyl overlay put on the car. It was originally glossy black from the factory.

Trying to find a better source for reference but check video. I have heard this from a coworker who has seen it at the local cars and coffee meet I previously mentioned. Either way, very sweet looking.

Sorry dude, it was a joke. I thought he had a talent like playing a guitar like Clapton, Buckingham or Ingwie or Van Halen or something like that?? Had no idea?? I went to YouTube and he reminds me of Robert Miles a lil.

he is far from the best DJ in the world. perhaps the most popular but not nearly the best.

he gets around a million bucks to do big events like new years shows. that's a million dollars to play other peoples music (some stuff he produces) for a few hours in a night.

for what its worth, he's a pretty good guy. donates a lot to charity and what not.

Not hating and not hijacking, BUT a million $$ for what talent?? Does he actually play the drums, guitar, bass? Help me out here?? Now, if he could drive, I'd be impressed

He is the self-proclaimed best DJ in the world.

The idea that a "title" exists for this accolade is reason enough for me to laugh at it. I found some of his music. I'm not into trance house music but apparently his is some of the best out there. Good for him, he's obviously great at what he does--and has a wonderful car to show for it!

Are you sure that's Tiesto? He doesn't have his hands in the air like he's Jesus.

It also doesn't look like he is trainwrecking every other track.

Couldnt agree more with you.
He is far from being the best. There are out there Dj's that are far better then him in creating electronic music. But thats just my opinion.

I could care less whether he's #1 or not, just saying.

Having being a big time trance music fan for many many years and hearing each of his songs on more than one occasion, as well as thousands and thousands from all kinds of dj's around the world - I came to realize just how genius his work is, and really how far most of the dj's, even some of the worlds top dj's stand from him. Oh well, could be just my opinion ...
A couple years ago I'd also say that Tiesto is just another dj. Not so much anymore.

He's the best businessman at doing what he does too.

In no way does he suck nor am i trying to take anything away from him but he is far from leaps and bounds above many other DJ's. Genius is a bold statement. The fact is he's a pop DJ now. Everyone in the scene knows him as just that. he is at the top of his respective industry yes, but like most things it means little to someone who is engulfed in the life style or is familiar with the underground up and comers.

it takes a lot to get to the top of any list and i must give credit to where credit is due but again, to say he's far beyond the rest is flat wrong. of course like yours, this is just my professional opinion. he produces little of what he plays and still uses a lot of his old stuff remixed to the hilt. most of his studio stuff and collaborations are done in separate locations at different times which would be like steven tyler dropping lyrics in spain while joey kramer laid drum beats in NYC. then a professional mixer did his thing and boom bang, a song. not exactly what you'd want to pay for if you were buying a live studio recorded album.

as a former DJ (haven't played live in a while...bills bar, avalon, karma all dead now but as your from boston i'm sure your familiar) I am more than up to date with him, his work and his history. if you like what he does, try Marcus Shultz, DJ Mik, PVD. these guys are all primarily trance focused but because they span to others sectors of the genre, where as tiesto plays only what he plays over and over and over again, i'd have to say they are more talented. talent usually = genius. i threw PVD in for arguments sake because with the exception him, who is nearly as popular as tiesto (and as well off) its like anything else...the younger, lesser known guys are hungrier, work harder and if talented usually put together better stuff.

tiesto certainly knows how to work a crowd and his production value is up there with the best. i've seen him all over the world. the shows are good, not great for me simply because its the same stuff regurgitated year after year. its fairly easy to guess his set list before flips the switches. boring.

i agree with you, his business sense can not be argued. just his fashion sense.

isn't this a car forum?

For what Genre?

What makes an awesome scratch DJ like Skribble work might not make a trance or house dj work.

Though, Skribble is pretty awesome.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_l06eX5tYvk

It's not only a technically impressive video, it's also dancable.

Scratching with Serato is a pain.

That said, I've heard Chuck Love plays live bass as well as other instruments while mixing tracks during his sets.

I think above all, what makes a solid dj, is not only the ability to read the room and mix tracks well, but also to be more than a human jukebox.

I've yet to see Tiesto do anything more technical than work in extra tables/cdjs.

He use to scratch when he started DJing at age 14, and yes he started out hip hop! He has produced more songs than any DJ I know, and the scene he is now people don't really care for scratching which I think is annoying, but that's just me

I can name lots. since your using magazines and the internet as your sole references i'm sure they are all in there somewhere so flip a few pages and there you go. oakenfold, paul van dyke, armin...all right up there in popularity.

why don't you name me a few DJ's that aren't in that magazine. or better yet, go read car and driver to get your info on cars. you sound like the kinda guy that thinks trance is it...or techno music encompasses the lot.

if your calling me a wanna be DJ that never made it, which it sounds like you are, then you couldn't be more wrong and uninformed. I had never intended on "making it". you listen to music right? your not in metallica, does that mean you shouldn't listen to it or play an instrument?

i did pretty well considering the amount of time i devoted to it...or didn't as the case may be. was i ever going to make the kind of money tiesto makes? prob/def not but it was never my intention. i hadn't been doing it for 20 years and went to school to get into business, not watch a bunch of 19 yr olds puke up extacy all over themselves. i grew up, stopped going to clubs until 6am and so the scene got repetitive. doesn't mean i like the music any less. doesn't mean i like tiesto any less. i never took anything away from him. i simply stated that "I" disagreed with another member who said that he was the beez kneez. i played in the same clubs he did. does that make me any better or worse? i'll say i was worse, for obvious reasons but other reasons as well. tiesto is very passionate. i said that. his shows are stellar. i said that. FOR ME, being as into the scene as i was, knowing a lot of DJ's, seeing their progression, tiesto was a little less interesting.

love getting slammed on a car forum for music preference.

Yeah... Tiesto does have a lot of music out there. Most of it over-produced, and stylistically similar to everything he's ever done.

I mean, he's certainly not alone. Look at Eric Prydz or Freddie Le Grand.

One-trick-ponies.

All of that said, I'm not trying to bash anyone (other than Tiesto himself), and certainly not anyting as subjective as other people's taste in music.

Let's get back to the heart of the matter - Nice car, TERRIBLE taste in football teams.

Redskins!? Come on.
