THE REAL 2012 C Class Coupe
Looks horrible...... reminds me of a '95 Civic Coupe

The 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe has been photographed, and not a moment too soon from the looks of this prototype. No, the car you’re looking at through a wire fence is not being booked into prison. But judging from the bright orange paint of this 2-door, it seems more than likely the car has an imminent date with a crash-test barrier.
Despite the best efforts of the Mercedes-Benz employees surrounding this prototype, our spy photographers managed to snap several images of the next C-Class Coupe minus any pesky camouflage. From the photos, the new coupe looks like it will make a handsome addition to Mercedes’ North American lineup. True to Mercedes-Benz tradition, the styling is conservative but with an aggressive touch here and there—not to mention a smattering of chrome around the windows and trunklid.
The C-Class Coupe looks as though it will retain the sedan’s front section, as well as the taillights and rear bumper from the 4-door. However, the sleeker roofline, doors and windows will be unique to Mercedes’ new small coupe. Although it’s sometimes referred to as a 2+2, we’ll have to wait for a peek at the C-Class Coupe’s interior before we know for certain if the rear seats can accommodate anything larger than kids and petite pets.
The available engines should be the same as what you’ll find in the C-Class sedan. In the U.S. this means a 228-bhp 3.0-liter V-6 or 268-bhp 3.5-liter V6. A 6-speed manual and 7-speed automatic are likely to be offered, though the 7-speed might be the only transmission available with the more powerful engine. We hope we’re wrong. We’d also love it if the engineers at Mercedes HQ squeezed the 451-bhp 6.2-liter V-8 engine from the C63 sports sedan into the smaller coupe.

I don't like how they didn't change the front/rear of the car...I like the roofline, but really think they should have changed more of the design. I love the E92's looks over the sedans.

It's the same fatal design mistake of the CTS-V Coupe...there is just too much body panel from the top of the rear tire to the bottom of the rear window.....makes it look bloated in the A$$....

bigger wheels, and sport version body kit would look legit, they made this "prototype" look like crap for a reason...

I actually had a real thing for the post-facelift LS2 GTOs.
I really think the E92 has the benchmark for the compact coupe segment. While this may be not the best result we've seen, I think its more... logical than the overly-exaggerated rear on the CTS Coupe.

So true. The E coupe solves this with the rear wheel arches that 'break' the large sheet metal optically. Lets hope they have a solution for this. Perhaps some BlackSeries rear wheel arches?

Well, definitely putting a "regular" car on there with stock everything and in dull orange definitely isn't the most flattering for the first picture ever seen.
That said, it definitely goes along with the lines of MB styling and the C-class. Not sure what else you can complain about. BMW did make the E9x's look pretty sexy though...
You can see where they even incorporated some budget design ideas such as the B-pillar instead of pillarless like the E-class. Definitely need to make sure that your higher models are worth the premium....
