Puff of white smoke from exhaust at start up?

Hey guys,

I've been getting this quick puff of white smoke from my exhaust at start up. I can't say it happens every time but I have noticied frequently. I can only assume it is some oil burning off. Is this normal? If not, is it something I should be worried about?

I've already had my oil light come on for low oil at 3,000 miles and had it topped off.

Other than that, the car has been flawless.

Thanks in advance!

white smoke is usually coolant. headgasket can be the issue but i dont know much above MB

FYI, bluish smoke is usually oil... you shouldnt have any color smoke on a car like this

let it sit overnight then have someone else start it for you. if the smoke smells sweet, it is coolant. then again, i know little about MB and their common issues. maybe someone else can chime in.

I just spoke with my SA and he said keep an eye on the coolant level. If the light comes on then you know we may have a problem. It's been doing it for about 3-4 weeks or so. I tried to catch a wiff on the smoke and from what I could tell it was odorless. He thinks it may just be consendation but obviously with such an expensive motor I would rather be overly cautious. I'm having him check with the head tech to see if they've had any issues like this with other AMG's just to make sure.

This seems to be very common on these cars. Search "smoke" and you'll find many threads/posts on this subject.

+1

It was common on my car prior to my header install. After header
install, it hasn't happened once. I wonder if it is related to the
catalytic converters somehow.
