I guess this might even work better with the GruppeM style intakes?
This design is totally different than what you have.

You already have a Gruppe M intake, this will compliment it nicely.

Update!!

If we can get 10 people to pony up and purchase their carbon fiber intake they will offer them for $1996.
I believe this is the lowest price for their newest design you'll find anytime, anywhere.
All we need to do is get 10 people and they will take the order and ship them.

They have 10 pieces that are in the works as we speak that we can have for that price. Its a very nice piece and has shown a power gain on the track.

1. Bodyguard - CL63 - THANK YOU!
2. dychen - THANK YOU!
3. Maverick1975 - THANK YOU!!
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10. Dads C63

Lets take advantage of this offer!!

I have asked about the front section as well and will advise.

+1. Saw you had posted the GB in the w211 section as well. I'd be interested in a price on the 55k airbox for an 82mm TB. Thanks

Guys, this group buy is actually only for the 63 air box NOT the 55.

A question: I thought the Renntech boxes required the Renntech tune because of the different MAF throat dimensions or did they modify the boxes to be more compatible with other/stock tunes?

And those with strut braces by MB Arts or SMERC may or may not clear. Just a thought until someone can verify.

Interested (for fitment to ML63), have a question though.

My stock ML63 intake does not have that part that sits in-between the airbox runners (the bit that has the Renntech logo on it). Close ups show it has a small air inlet I think.

Do you know if this does fit an ML63 in this case?

Edit: Had a look at some pics, it looks like the MY08 and onwards 63's have this.

I wonder if it is a resonator chamber of some sorts?

Hey Reg,

That's also what I thought at first, but it's actually a vacuum accumulator. Unplug the hose that connects to it after the car's been running for a bit and you can hear the air rush back in (you'll get a CEL, but it goes away a minute or two after you plug the hose back in). I think it's used to actuate the flapper inside the intake runners. It's located off the intake on the CL63 as well as the early ML63 and maybe others, too.

Happy New Years!

Josh

here is a pic of the top side of the chamber, the bottom side is basically the same
LOL. I don't think anything I have to add could make this any funnier, considering my post DIRECTLY ABOVE it.

If you want another box besides the "63" you will need to call Renntech and ask for Thomas. Mention the GP for the "63" box and see if they will do anything for you. I did not work out anything with them concerning other boxes, sorry.

As far as the other questions, I will get answers as soon as I can.
Thanks for your help Josh!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Or just unnecessarily post in another sponsor's thread that you have no idea what it is, LOL. That's awesome. Way to keep it classy.

Anyway, one phone call later and I found out it was a running change made in '08 to add a reserve to the vacuum actuators that are, as I presumed, used to change the intake runner length. Kinda simple math: Dual length runners + vacuum actuators + empty box on the intake = ? Let's call Einstein, this is a mystery for the ages...

Way to start the new year with a bang, bro.

Josh

Theres absolutely no reason to have an argument in this thread. He didnt unnecessarily post in another sponsors thread. He gave his opinion on something just like you did. Dont start an unnecessary argument, it will go NO WHERE and the mods will be forced to close the thread.

On this forum there are probably 3 people with extensive knowledge of the all aspects of the RENNtech product line.. Myself, James and Jo Borras. As long as the huge sign sits outside of Dyno-Comp that says RENNtech Mercedes of Arizona. I'll help people who want to know about that product line.
It's called a Heimholtz resonator, it's purpopse is to reduce induction noise. This is not simply an AMG application. I have no knowledge of the Renntech product line fwiw.

You've posted on this same forum that you're bringing out your own airboxes and inlet tubes already and that they will be for sale shortly. You've also posted pics of older versions of the RENNtech airbox that are not comparable to those being purchased via Dad's Perf LLC GB. It doesn't take much to read between the lines.

Honestly Hooley, why even post in another vendor's thread? Both you and James have done so (James' post was removed as it should have been), and I believe the forum knows your feelings on this particular airbox. So being that you're also a paying sponsor why not pay some respect.

I don't think that's quite accurate. It's definitely part of the vacuum system so I don't see how that could work (also because there's no actual perforation directly connecting the box to the intake.). Honestly not trying to start more ****, just interested in where you got that.

Josh

Hmmm....I've seen resonators on the intake tract before the filters, but not after.
