I bought a 2011 C63 3 months ago. I just found out the facelift this year will be a major change from the current model. Which includes MCT, big interior and exterior change even tuned up suspension. :mad0260::mad0260: I am an M3 lover. I care about the handling a lot! I kinda regret I didn't get E90 M3. E90 comes out in like 05? So I am guessing it will be 2012 to have regular 3er? 2013 to have M3? Not even sure if BMW will offer a sedan.
( BTW, I never driven a E90/92 M3 )
E90 M3
Great handling![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
DCT:drool:
I like the interior better than C63![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I heard C63 smokes it in straight line with some mods easily:sigh:
C63 AMG
Lots of torque and power for straight line![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Beautiful exhaust sound:thumbsup:
Handling is not that great imo:cry:
Lovely bucket seats![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Crappy gear box:cry:
handling department is not my cup of tea:thumbdown
I live in Taiwan and all we care is straight lines. But I do really care about the handling department.

The 7G-automatic not "crappy" but is very unresponsive in manual mode, downshifts take an age. Offshoot is it's very smooth in auto mode, but it's not my favorite transmission when driving aggressively especially when compared to DCT and the like.

The C63's handling has come that much closer to the M3's. The C63 Coupe is what Mercedes is calling "A true M3 killer". Yes the C63 rolls through corners. I am also cross shopping the two vehicles. The current interior quality was very cheap so thats hopefully fixed for the refreshed version.

I wouldn't go as far as to call the gear box crap but its not as sophisticated as some of the dual clutch transmissions out there. I was actually surprised at the handling as well, it is a good handler for such a nose heavy car, but not as direct and sharp as the M3. With a set of KW's and sway bars I have no doubt It would be up there.
I was in the market for an M3 before I picked up my car. I drove one around for a month and a half and its a great car but after driving the C63 once, I was hooked. For me personally its a much more exciting car.
You are going to get one sided opinions on MB world since 99.9% of the members here are AMG owners. Go ask the same question on M3post and almost all the members there are gonna tell you to get the M3.
If you regret your purchase of the C63, sell it and get an M3.

I totally agree with your statements. I have a c63. I like it, except if it has a dual clutch then it would be all set. I also agree with you the front end is quite heavy and amg is able to keep up the handling department. Which is alright.
I haven't yet drive the m3 yet. What is more exciting driving a c63 vs m3 torque and sound?

IMO the only way to really make good power on the M3 and to be faster then the C63 would be supercharging it.
I would highly recommend driving the M3 to see which car suites your style better.

i have driven both cars, and honestly i love the c63. its raw power is amazing. now heres the one thing i have questions about.... you say with KW's and sways and struts, the C63 will handle amazingly, and more like the M3... however... what happens if you get an M3 and throw on PSS-10's.... dont get me wrong. i am all for mercedes.... but once you start modding one of the cars.... you have to think of equally priced mods for the other... you can have a C63 with amazing power and then use KW's and some more to make it handle as well as the M3, or you could have an M3 and run PSS-10's and a few other mods and it will out drive the mercedes all day long. its an extremely difficult decision IMO. good luck my man.
*BTW* i absolutely LOVE Taiwan! ive been there a few times with my dad for business. He own SHL medical, the factories are in Tao Yuan. absolutely beautiful over there. Luxy could be one of the greatest clubs ive even been to in my entire life as well! big ups to Taiwan.

I have owned several M3s, the last an E46 SMG. Although i am very happy i bought the C63, it was a close call vs the new M3 - the handling and gearbox being the two big weaknesses. for me the m3 inspired more confidence when ripping through the corners and i liked the SMG even though it was gen II. i bought the PP (2009 version) but it still doesn't inspire confidence, if nothing else it needs more rubber at the back, i have tried the 265s but need to think about what to do next re wheels and tires. the gearbox is just ok, needs DCT desperately.

Maybe we are not asking the right question. What is keeping you from trading for the M3? You want the M3, get the M3.
This just seems like a no brainer.
Plenty of Cs to go around if you find out the M is not all you thought.

Don't want to start the debate but I've smoked many many m3s on the track with my stock C63 just with KW V3s. Got an Os giken lsd installed, M3s will be way way behind on the track.

90 % of the M3 forum cant take a left turn through an Apex at 70 MPH. They dont know how to drive/drift/counter steer. It's ****ing stupid.
The M3 handling is not so much better than the C63.
I think the C63 was like 1 sec behind in the Slolamn. 69mph vs 68.2 or something like. Big deal.
Too say the C63 cant handle is just because you cant handle the damn torque curve.
Now if you compared A CL63 vs the M3, then you can say that it doesn't handle as well. But hell I will destroy every M owner behind the wheel of a CL63 on the track and the street.

You're also riding AMG's dick like no tomorrow. You don't like to face the fact that M cars are more nimble through corners. Your S class must kick M3's asses all day long a the track.

Wow I really stirred up something here. My point is basically that the cars are extremely close on the track, usually the best driver will win, period.
I do have to say that the stock suspension on the C63 is not up to par with the M3, the narrow rear tires do need an upgrade and the auto transmission is possibly not as good as the M3's manual transmission (quite different) , but since in Canada the M3 is 10 000$ more, you're still beating an M3 on all levels for fewer money and minimum upgrades if you want to compare dollar per dollar performance.
Anyways if you take both cars as stock with the same driver, and M3 will probably be slightly ahead on the track and the C63 a few cars ahead on the straight line.
2 great cars in my book.
