My dealership wants $300 (I believe MSRP is $298) and I didn't know if we had any OEM part resources online that I may be able to order it for less.

They tell me it's pretty much plug and play.

Anyone know?

Doesn't it come with the media package? Or is it somethign totally different.

No, unfortunately it doesn't. The MIP unit is sold seperately(approx $300) It allows audio streaming, Pandora radio, & uploading your contacts from your phone. And now with the new software update, you can receive & view txt messages & emails on COMAND.

sorry i seem to misunderstand all this.. this COMAND with the audio streaming and all. it's not standard it's an upgraded version? to be honest how do i know if my car has it already? how would audio streaming work? and where would pandora run from satellite? all seem so WONDERFUL, but no idea if i have it already... i now have the ipod and aux wire in the glove compt, with sat. radio and HD radio on my COMAND.

The email and text messaging is only available with Blackberry, the iPhone doesn't support it currently. I use mine all the time, despite the email and texting. it would be nice to have those others features are you listening Apple.

thanks yuille, my girlfriend's mother just got an e350 coupe and her little brother was showing me the car and he goes "check this out" and showed me all those options (clearly the MIP unit.. it works WONDERS.. i loved it so much, but figured it was a newer 11+ standard navi.. so happy it's not! getting on it asap!

I picked mine up at employee cost, it pays to know people at Mercedes. Especially in the parts department The MIP is great, I bought it mainly to sync my contact list, but fould out it had many more features that I can use. I love this thing now, I just wished that the text and email would work with an iPhone.

I don't see why not, as long as it paired to that vehicle, and it's compatible 09-11 model Mercedes. Have you check out the link, it tells you everything, bluetooth audio streaming, download phone contact list, Pandora, email and text with certain cell phones, iPod video.

The website doesn't specify US or Europe, But I would contact your Mercedes Dealer to find out it's availibility for Europe.

From a pure technical standpoint, it should work just fine with any vehicle that is supported, EU, US, whatever, as the device is using the bluetooth SIG specification. That does not differ from country to country. Also, in the event you use the tether option (if thats even possible, via USB or some other synch cable), Blackberry, Apple, HTC, etc do not differ the dock connector in any way.

Can anybody confirm that the MIP will work in `09 C63 AMG North America model?
I have one of these and I am not sure if it will work in my car, it is equipped with the MM Package and iPod interface.
I would also like to have a USB port.

I think your blackberry software version needs to be up to a certain level as well.

It doesn't seem like it is available for '09 or '08 as it requires an additional port in the glove box.

So for MY2009, we'd have to first purchase the multimedia package upgrade which I think is around 1500 usd. Then pay another 300 for this item?

I don't even have nav traffic or the ability to control my ipod through the COMAND. I have to use my info screen on the dash and use the phone controls to navigate the ipod. Probably the worst 375 bucks I ever spent was to get the ipod option for my car. I use the PCMCIA slot way more often.

You probably could do it cheaper yourself. I wonder if it is going to enable the nav traffic though.
