Cotton gauze filters tend to outflow foam filters in general.

Here is a filter test to have a look at.

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/airfilter/airtest1.htm

Generally cotton gauze flows better and paper filters better. Foam doesn't seem to do either as well but seems to outflow paper a little.

I recommend using TTM. Shop tools are required to do this.

This is the same "off the shelf" tune.

I'm wondering if the +10HP from the removal of the charcoals and K&N filter addition is actually more driven by the leaner AFR condition that I keep reading this creates.

I would be interested in seeing the AFR curves for those pulls to see how they differ, if at all.

Un-tuned the filter removal did not cause air/fuel ratio to change.
Less restriction = more air = better numbers

Which shop tools are used? To me looks like a razor blade would do the trick.

Great results Jeremy!

I'm considering swinging by your shop today to finally move forward with your tune (and seeing the charcoal/K&N results, also get those done at same time). Hopefully I can get the same 425whp you did since our cars stock had almost identical dyno results.

Any updates as to when we might expect some exhaust numbers?

A good heat gun, die-grinder and a razor blade is what I used. Not hard to do with the right tools. This mod could easily go wrong and cost a new airbox...

Any idea how dealers would likely view the k&n filter swap and airbox mod with regards to warranty issues?

What is the process for purchasing a tune and what is the best process to preserve warranty on a tuned car when bringing it to a dealer for service?
