Bug in Cluster

On a serious note, the dealership should definitely be able to do something here. Since you say it's never been worked on, this more than likely happened somewhere in the building process. Hope you get it resolved.
I have no knowledge in DIY but I was able to remove the cluster to change the background from silver to carbon with 3M CF.
Should take you about 30min. Its all about screws , seriously. The most difficult part is to relocate the cluster in the dash as the gap between the dash and the steering wheel is REALLY REALLY small , even extended to the max.
Again , I'm a beginner in DIY , and I've been able to do it alone. So you should give it a try.

On a serious note, the dealership shouldn't even have to question you about how the bug got in there... they should just take the 30minutes-1hour & remove it for you as a nice gesture to make a customer happy!!
seriously, i took it to mercedes benz of chicago here in downtown. i told them theres a bug in the cluster. i asked them if this can be fixed or replaced under warranty. They asked around the service people and said no its not warrantied against outside influences like bugs because its not a defect. They told me that the bug must have gotten in there through the vents or i must have taken it apart at one time or another and thats how the bug got in there. I told them a bug shouldnt even be in there in the first place. The service technician got involved and said he can *probably* fix it. I asked him if he ever took the cluster apart on a c63 and he said NOPE. So this would be his first one using my car as a practice and charging me for 2 hours of labor.
The reason I ask is my dad's SL actually got some cigarette ashes behind his cluster (and he bought it brand new).
Granted, the SL is a convertible (and you shouldn't be smoking in an SL, but that's a whole other story
)I'm just thinking maybe excessive wind/turbulence could have forced the bug in, just a guess.
Now, that doesn't help get the bug out--I think it's total BS that the dealer won't remove it under warranty.
Try PMing the guys at the PL and call MBUSA a $70K+ car shouldn't have this problem and if it does, it should get fixed at no charge IMO
HELP MEEE!!

Yea, it does get on my nerves each time. I just want that bug outta there but its soo hard to even find time to get to the dealer. i went to the one closest to me and that's the result of that. Im going to drive to loeber motors after work and see what happens tomorrow.
When I get a bird $-hit I don't complaint to the dealer. It is bad luck but what is the dealer has to do with it? I have seen rodent eating wire/harness from engines but it is not a dealer issue.I think you are out of luck but I still wish you luck.

(okay.. its a nerd joke.. but still)
