summers on for good now. Car is lowered on H&R springs.

I've been trying to run 19x10 et50 with a 275/35 for the last couple of days and it just hasn't been working out. Rear wheels rubbing at speed on the highway under full compression. My Kleemann wheels are et60 so I was able to go from a 10mm rear spacer to a 5mm spacer making them et55. That solved everything.

Front = 19x8.5 et35 245/35's
Rear = 19x10 et55 275/30's




ZERO rubbing with this setup. The insides of the rear tires are probably less and 1mm away from the inner skirts but again ZERO rubbing. Now hopefully it won't f'ing snow any more. <knock on wood>

actually I have just put on my new wheels also and I am running basically same specs as you but my rears are 9.5" instead of 10".

I am also rubbing on highway speeds under compression but I do not fully understand how you solved your issue? I have been searching to no avail...

Do you mean you had spacers in before? Anyone! Please provide me some input on how I can solve this issue!

I am running on 275 rears with offset ET 50. (yes, only my rear is rubbing on hwy speeds under compression or when i do turns at higher speed)

Looks awesome Jeff. Have you blacked out your rear badges? I was thinking of doing it but I can't find a C63 badge in black only an AMG one.

yes the badges, window trim, and grill were all removed and painted gloss black. I was going to buy after market black badges for the back but they didn't look right so I painted the stock ones. having a good friend that owns a body shop is very handy.

I actually thought about taking my black beast out this weekend, but I stopped there
My road is absolutely covered in sand, I was hoping the heavy rains would have washed it out more, but it didn't.
Oh well, pretty soon

We should try to get a NE contingent together this Spring/Sumer.

The OP wheels are +60mm offset with 10mm spacer= +50mm offset = rubbing. But he switched to a 5mm spacer= +55mm offset = no more rubbing.

In your case, I would either:

1) roll the fenders (not recommended though, if you search the forum).

2) or shave the inner hub of your wheels to push them in a bit.

3) buy the thicker spring pads (17mm) for your rear from your MB dealership & hope for the best!

4) change your tires from 275/30 to 265/30 (recommended by my wheel company).

Jeff, thanks for posting the pics & sharing your experience... your stance looks perfect!! I will deal with the rubbing once I install my springs in May... waiting for the snow to melt completely & the potholes to be patched up.

and thanks guys I'm really happy with how this turned out. I really wanted to run the wheels at et50 but not being able to roll the fenders sux. I may re-look at the et50 option again in the future but for now I'm happy.

I have no idea. 5mm is probably impossible to see from a pic. The wheels should say offsets on the insides somewhere? The generals look really rounded and "small" for the size though I'd put the springs on and give it a go.

This was my top down shot when I was at et50 you can see some tire tread, can't really see that in your pic. The Generals might be a great tire for pulling this off.

Unfortunately, my rims are custom made for our cars... and the offset is top secret.

Hahaha... I know secret offset sucks!! Well, I just measured my wheels offset with the help of the calculator formula found on the net.

My assumption is +51mm rear & +45mm front. So it will be a close call, I might have to go 265 afterall.

Roswell you can measure the offset on your wheels yourself and it will no longer be a secret.

1.) Wheel total width:

Front (assuming 19 x 8.5) + 1" for lips = 9.5"
Rear ( 19 x 10) + 1" for lips = 11"

or

you can measure it yourself but it is hard to do with tires mounted unless you have big calipers.

2.) Find the Back Spacing of the wheel. Place a straight edge across the back side of the wheel and measure to the mounting hub surface.

Front - from straight edge to hub = 6.52"
Rear - from straight edge to hub = 7.51"

3.)Determine the Offset or ET. Divide the total width of the wheel by 2 to find the CL (Centre Line) and subtract from the BS (Back Spacing) and you have the offset. Positive if one half the width is < the BS and negative if one half the width is > the BS.

Front - CL = 9.5 / 2 = 4.75"
ET = 6.52" - 4.75" = 1.77"
Convert to metric - ET = 1.77" x 25.4mm = 45mm

Rear - CL = 11 / 2 = 5.5"
ET = 7.51" - 5.5" = 2.01"
Convert to metric - ET = 2.01" x 25.4" = 51mm

You can of course do all measurements in metric if you so desire and will not have to convert inches to millimeters.

Mort, thanks for the explanations... that's exactly what I did to get the offset. When I measured my wheels, I was surprised it was 11in although the wheels are 19x10.

So you're saying it's becuz I have 1 inch lip in the back... but I measured 2.5 inch lip in the back? Why is that? I also measured our stock wheels for fun, and it was 10in rather than 18x9... weird!!

The width of the wheel is stated as the mounting surface for the tire so it is inside the lips of the wheel that the tire mounts up against and that hold the tire on the rim. The total width of the wheel is then the mounting surface inside the lips of the wheel plus the measure of the lips themselves. This is usually 1" on most wheels so 1/2" per side. I am referring to the tabs on the edge of the wheels that hold the tire on and you are thinking of the lips created from the hub or spokes of the wheel to the outer edge of the wheel. Maybe I should be calling the tabs something else to be less confusing?

Awesome, I get your point now... it does make sense! You must know about wheels configuration very well cuz the number you stated above are exactly the measurement from my wheels. Now, let's hope my 19x10 +51mm offset will clear... hehehe!
