GD dammit I was going to hit PBIR last night too. Stunning, I think my jaw would have hit the ground when the lights lit up those numbers. Congrats, that is some feat you guys have pulled off, got to be the fastest tank in the world.

Thanks guys. Video should be up shortly. Within the video is the timeslip. Also, I sent the time slip via text to a few on the board; as such, anyone who has it is welcome to post it.
As to the mods, Renntech has been messaging the tune and airboxes to make more power. In addition, Renntech installed prototype carbon ceramic rotors at all 4 wheels to reduce rotating mass. And last but not least, the transmission was further reinforced and a prototype torque converter installed. All of the items are in the testing phase to determine if they will go into production.

2006 CL65
Thanks CELLryuu. I generally don't pay too much attention to the tree when going for low et. Usually, I just focus on getting the launch right since clock doesn't start until break beam. Car makes a ton of torque down low and is tricky to launch especially on a test and tune night when everyone is dragging water to the line. But on that run I had a decent reaction time. Thanks again.
Thanks. Lots of people have never seen a 10 second Mercedes. It was interesting to see people's faces when got back to staging lanes.
Thanks again. The ceramic brakes save about 20 lbs per corner.
Thanks Jody. Long time coming.
Thanks. Funny thing is I thought the Grand National in the other lane broke until I looked at the slip and saw he ran 12.28.
Thanks. Lots of capable guys out there tuning these cars. It's great to see everyone up the ante. We all learn from it. To name a few, Keith (Dad's) and gang have done a great job with their C63. Marcin (Speedriven) is very knowledgeable has good things in the works. Also, the guys at MHP are talented and I hear have an SL65 in the works. I look forward to someone breaking the record. It's all in good fun.
Thanks.
I owe a debt of gratitude to Hartmut and the guys at RENNtech. Countless hours have been spent on R&D to get this car where it is at. Didn't weigh it at track as I think they wanted me to go home : ). Weighed it in the past and its right around 4500 without me in it.
Thanks...
and Thanks.
Thanks.

Simply amazing Steve! I knew if you could get some grip off the line you would nail a low 10 second run in the high 130's!
Hats off to Hartmut and his amazing company for building such an incredible machine.

That car looks amazing leaving the line both records next to cars probably 1,200 pounds lighter and yet your launch looks like a bike next to them!!! What else can you share with us about your car? Are you still running on stock turbos? injectors? intercoolers? Alot remains a mystery. hahah. I understand the lsd and the stall converter will shave some time, but what else has been done to maintain IAT's? Do you have a trunk resevoir? Are you still using the normal renntech cf air boxes or have they designed something new for you?? I thought you had most of the mods as of last year, with the exception of the brake upgrades and stall converter. Well sorry for so many questions, I'm sure I'm not alone. Very big congrats!!!

Thanks guys. Since I am just the driver , I spoke with Hartmut to get the full list of mods.
Since I ran the 10.62 @ nearly 134 last April (mods up to that point are listed in the RENNtechTV video of the run), Renntech has been messaging the tune and airboxes to make more power. Probably another 100 dyno runs on my car in the last year. The airboxes are not offered by Renntech presently; however, they may. Also, Renntech installed prototype carbon ceramic rotors at all 4 wheels to reduce rotating mass, the transmission was further reinforced and a prototype torque converter installed. Anyone who has a V12 BiTurbo making over 600 to the wheels knows that the transmission and TCU become an obstacle. The transmission issues have been worked out by Hartmut and the guys at Renntech. In addition, Renntech installed a prototype carbon fiber drive shaft which may also go into production.
They also made some modifications to the already enhanced/larger heat exchanger and IC pump on my car. In addition, they spent time adjusting the pinion angle of the rear to assist with the launch. As a result of the above, I picked up 4/10ths and 4 mph. As you can see, performance gains after 10.60 @ 134 are harder to reach.
All of the items are in the testing phase to determine if they will go into production.
As to turbos and intercoolers, Renntech tried Black Series turbos on my last CL65 (Flint grey) and the gains were minimal and not worth yanking the engine. Also, larger intercoolers were tried, however, the results were not what was expected. Larger is not necessarily better with intercoolers and turbos. If it doesn't work, Renntech is not going to use it. In sum, on the 10.27 run, the car had stock intercoolers and turbos.
Thanks again.

PLATINUM SPONSOR
Renntech plans to hold the record, so if you get close ,, they will boost up for the 9`sss.. It seems their one weak link, will be that they wont use Nitrous (at least claim they wont). So, get close to thier power and then spray that ***** for a record..

If ONLY the Florida legal system moved as fast as Steve's car!!!
Awesome run...............I think we're all still wowing.
FWIW, a C63 is reported to have run 10.41 as follows:
Modified C63 AMG Boasts Of 900 Horsepower

Car enthusiasts being what they are, it is not really a surprise when a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG owner decides that 450 horsepower is not enough. In this case, owner Keith Brantley contracted Modern Horsepower (MHP) to remake his C63 AMG. The resulting package, nicknamed the Red Brown Arrow, is touted to be the world's fastest C63 AMG.
To be able to lay claim to this title, MHP installed their Stage 3CMR Package, which reworks the naturally-aspirated V8 to enable it to develop 652 horsepower and 595 lb-ft of torque, for a gain of 201HP and 152 lb-ft over the production AMG C63. Not stopping there, the tuner also fitted a nitrous oxide system that temporarily boosts maximum power to 900HP. At a quarter-mile track, the car was shown to do 0 to 60 mph in 3.04 seconds and on to 100 mph in 6.19 seconds. Its 60 to 130 mph time of 6.59 seconds is 1.2 seconds faster than a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. It has already bested a Corvette ZR-1 and a Porsche Carrera GT in a standing mile event and has been timed at 10.41 seconds for the 1/4 mile.
