Cross country transport question.

Anyone have a car they purchased transported across country? I'm looking to purchase a vehicle from the Chicago area, wanting it shipped to So Cal. What price should I be expecting? Any reliable source? Thanks!

I used AutoZipper (www.autozipper.com) and had a good experience with them - shipped from LA to Alabama.
$980 - this was a few years ago, and gas was cheaper.

Also, check out: http://www.transportreviews.com/

I used DAS several years ago to ship a car from North Carolina to California. Car arrived on time with no new dings or scratches, so no complaints on my end. I think I paid about $700, but agree prices are likely higher now due to fuel rate increases among other things. You could also pay extra for specific placement on the truck if I recall.

I don't remember which transportation company the dealership used, but it was @ 500 from Charlotte to New Orleans for my C63 and 1000 from San Jose to New Orleans for the E63.

For an enclosed carrier, you might be into the 1.50/mile range with gas prices right now. Quotes were around 1.25/mile last fall.

An exotic car dealer in Chicago could probably recommend a carrier. There may be weekly trips from Chicago-LA with some of the major carriers. I used Newman International but I've heard good things about Reliable as well.

Got this little baby from FL to SoCal last October for $1750 enclosed carrier door-to-door service

NIce, thanks for the info guys! Appreciate it!

Hans, nice to see you're from HB, as I am. Ever since I've been looking into getting a c63 (since March), I've only seen one, yes ONE on the road, and my daily commute is up PCH, from Sea Point, to Lakewood Blvd, I'd expect to see a lot more on PCH! I see plenty of m3's. There will be a red c63 terrorizing the streets of HB, honk if you see me, lol

Awesome! That's a nice commute for the C63 too I'll be looking for you. I drive my 135i most of the time so try not to pick on me too much, if you see a silver one....

I've seen another Steel Grey and also a white C63 in HB... but only once, in almost 3 years with my car.

Congrats and hope your delivery is handled quickly and smoothly!

I highly recommend golden key express http://goldenkeyexpress.com/auto-transport/. They own and operate their own trucks vs. brokers who eat a chunk of money and are not directly involved. I'd rather pay the carrier directly.

I used them when I moved from DC to Irvine a couple of years ago. Cost me around $1000 for my Infiniti M45. The driver was super nice and even got my car washed before delivering it!

My driver was Zoltan, and Misty helped me set up the move. Great staff! http://goldenkeyexpress.com/auto-transport/staff.html
