I contacted carbotech before, they said they don't have the back plates for the pads even the pads are listed on their website, you have to send your own plates still they charge the same

I was speaking with Mike Jr. and he said that they used to require that, or they'd have to buy brake pads from Mercedes and strip them down. However, now they have their own plate, and charge a $65 per set core charge.

I'm guessing you talked to them a while ago. However, the sale isn't finalized, so we'll see if they try anything sneaky.

yes, that was a few months back, if they buy brake pads from Mercedes and strip them down, how much are they going to charge, $800 a set? nevertheless, keep us posted

It appears you're half right. They have all materials to produce front brake pads, but nothing for the rears. However, they are searching for options right now.

In the meantime... does anyone have a set of brake pads (either just rear, or all 4) that are shot and would be willing to give/sell to me?

Update (07/18/12)

Carbotech has front brake plates, but no rears. I've sourced old, stock pads from a member in the US, and they will get shipped to carbotech to be cleaned, and resurfaced with new pads. Turnaround time is 1 week, and I've been quoted less than $500 including shipping to Canada.
