C63 AMG Black Series revealed

There are a few shots of the back that are starting to grow on me, however I agree about the exhaust and diffuser looking tacked on. From what I can tell, it has fake exhaust tips like the IS-F. I can see daylight through them in a couple pics. Probably so it doesn't burn the CF diffuser that wraps around them. I'm starting to think AMG contacted Renntech or Wald to design the bodykit. I think I just gotta wait to see it in person and maybe I'll do a 180.

Is it just me does the Road & Track article have lots of bizarre info none of the other media sources mention? Seems to me they are off their rocker and just plain making some of these up.

1. It will have a mandatory sunroof in the US.
2. Aero package and rear seats cannot be had together because the weight and force over the rear axle will exceed allowable limits.
3. It will cost in the 70k range.

Yeah... I highly doubt it will be in the 70k range..
I was at the dealer all I could find out is it will be 100k + canadian..
which is stronger than the US dollar right now

Who knows about pricing of the "Track Package" and "Aero Package" options, but I would expect 5-10 euro for each. Probably looking at a fully options C63 Black Series being close to the original CLK63 black's $138k sticker.

Not feelin' it. Hate the rims and it looks overstyled to me, yes I know that Black Series do have that kind of look. I really like the photoshop of the multispoke...that looks much better.
I am with others, I would like to see it in black or iridium.

As far as CLK63 Black pricing, prices have plateaued or even increased since last year. I know the going rate for CLK63 Blacks with my mileage is $2-3k more than I paid a year ago. If anything, an arguably a "less hardcore" Black series will increase the relative value of the CLK.

Mercedes C63 amg, Bmw X5,
...a plain C63 with all options is close to $80k, so I doubt a Black Series version would sell for $10k less.

But if you want to get literal with being able to compare. The CLK has more torque, more radiators, carbon fiber body panels, seam welded chassis, etc.
The C63 has more horsepower, more fake air intakes (notice the use of the word "virtual" in the press release describing the rear fender air scoops), more options (the CLK had one...an iPod plug, everything else was standard).
I was just saying you are going to pay a lot for a car that was built to a budget and that it's most obvious competition wasn't.
When asked what car provided the biggest competition for the 1M coupe, BMW said "a used M3.". Likewise, "what car provides the greatest competition for a C63 Black Series?"... A used CLK63 Black Series.
Again, I'm sure the C63 will be fun to drive, I just don't know about it being $30k of my dollars better to drive. I would welcome being pleasantly surprised if it is.

Wow not really impressed. Might be time to try the cts-v. I'll wait until final pricing and options before making final judgements but I do feel a little let down with the c63 BS. I think I rather have a p031 4 door.

2010 C63
Specs, etc. are on the PL now.
As far as comparisons to the CLK go, nobody can make a comparison until they have driven both back to back. I am a huge fan-boy for the CLK - I much prefer the CLK-BS to the SLS on the track - but to me this car is much closer to the CLK than I thought that they would get.
Adjustable coil over suspension, revised front and rear axles with wider track front and rear, compound braking system, significantly wider tires (255 front, 285 rear) on much lighter wheels and a locking diff with (optional) cooler. With respect to the seam welded frame, the old CLK BS had to be seam welded b/c the basic CLK was an old floppy b!tch. Suspension wise, the new BS seems very similar to the CLK. The engine is clearly improved with forged internals and, finally, the transmission is a clear impovement in every way. I do wish they could have lost some weight and added in the stut tower braces (maybe they did - not sure), and it will suck if the panamoric roof is mandatory in the US. The seats will never see the US. And what is wrong with having options?
So all in all, this car seems to be very close competition to the CLK and I am not sure how, right now, anyone can claim that one is "better" than the other.

That beast doesn't remotely resemble a G37 coupe.
Without question, this car is going to have presence. Curious to see the performance numbers, though. Given it's probable price range, you're competing with the GT-R, ZR1 and possible the 997 Turbo...which is heady company so I hope this car has the chops.

Question...
What exactly makes this car truley unique?
Im not being overly logical here but really, outside of the wheels and its status as a coupe what makes this car an individual.
what can I sit down and tell myself that will convince me to head to my lending agent to discuss a 140,000 usdollar car.
As of now all I see is a car that head to toe truly is a parts-bin car.. I for the life of me could never justify spending 80-90 thousand dollars on a 1m which is also a piecemeal car but that car is a certifiable bargain by comparison...
I cant see spending clk black price, a car engineered to do great things as a result of new hardware and testing, for a car composed of mostly late e63 parts and a few sls and front axle tid bits..
Someone give me some input that is tangible here..not "omg its so awesome look at the bumper"
Its interior is a cf accessory kit, exhaust is straight from the e...i'm really curious,as to why they feel it can be ~50k more than the e...
No not at all....THIS on the other hand..

striking similarities..

I love it! I didn't like it from the spy pics at first but in these new pics, it looks phenomenal. I wish it had a tad bit more power, but it's going to be a beast for sure.

AMG & RR
I don't like it as much as I liked the C63 when it came out in 08. It's a bit overdone and the exhaust sounds like MNL Ice's C63. I wasn't expecting the spoiler to be bigger considering how flared and loud the rest of the car is. I guess I'll have to wait and see in person. Back looks tacky as well.
Anyone know what this is for? http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2012-...photo-4314779/

Easy....!
The battery is in the boot. So to provide under bonnet jump start facilities the item in your picture is the earth point for your negative jump lead.
The positive point will be covered to protect it from accidental earthing.
Just means you don-t have to go emptying your boot to get, or give a jump start.
