screeching sound upon shut down and start up

screeching sound upon shut down and start up

So upon pulling into a parking spot this morning, my car made a loud screeching sound upon shut down. The when I went to leave it made a similar sound upon start up.

The sound is similar to noisey brakes, but it definitely came from the engine bay.
It went away shortly after and I then shut it down and restarted w/o incident.

Could a piece of gravel have gotten into some moving part and then flown out.

Any ideas?

Would of liked to of heard it...but HIGHLY unlikely a rock got stock...
Has it replicated again? You know cars, does it really sound crazy abnormal?

Most likely one of the belts.... they tend to make screeching noises when they are lose..

thanks for the feedback guys.

so i brought the car in for its service A today and i mentioned the noise to my tech and he checked everything and said he noticed nothing unusual. He said the belts looked fine.
hopefully it was a fluke--we shall see if it comes back.

any other ideas?

Do you have power folding mirrors? Occaisionally when my car starts up or shuts down and the mirrors go in or out, the motors make a high pitched whining/screeching noise.
