Yes, i test drove it, but unfortunately the roads were pretty smooth, so there was no way i would hear the rattles.
I didn't really need to test more cars, since I kinda knew what I wanted.
My next car will probably be another 911, but for now, "nina the pavement eater" will do fine...

The rattles are an issue with 2012 cars only. I just bought a C63 coupe and it has rattles in the dash above the speedo as well. A good friend of mine works as a tech for MB at the local dealership and informed me of the issue. It is cause because there are no clips holding the dash secure to the speedo area, it is only a flimsy plastic holder. MB is working on a formal solution, however we simply used some 3m tape and put in the the area of the squeak....no problems since.
Enjoy the car!

Can you tell me where exactly you put the 3m tape JT? Did you take out the dashboard and put it on the cable assembly? Or did you put it elsewhere?

I'll get back to this thread on Tuesday, I am away on vacation right now and my friend is the one who put the tape on so I really could not be very helpful until I talk to him.

Hey congrats on your recent purchase.. No comment on the blue on the Shelby though..
Weird to know that the 2012 cars have the squeaky issues.. To date me C63 is clean as a whistle and loving every moment I take her out...
Hope you resolve your issues soon with MB.
By the way, what's the dev pack?

Rattles tend to be exacerbated in colder climates as the plastics expand/shrink with the change in heat, so I was told. My 2011 has a rattle that goes away when I close the radio/nav display. Other than that, I believe the headliner has a rattle right above my left ear which I think is the cover for the sunroof. I hate rattles and I had two Mustangs, a 99 and o5 GT that were very good as far as rattles.
Loved my Mustangs...

I'm ok with a "squeak or two" but this is really ridiculous! I have a serious rattle in the vicinity of the speedometer, the glove box is squeaking like crazy, the radio pod, has a serious squeak, and i have yet to find the fourth one.
In addition to the sports cars, my primary cars were the BMW 525, Audi A4, etc. I have been fortunate to have roughly 16 new cars. None of them had as many rattles, squeaks, and noises as this new C63 for some reason. Even the lowly Shelby GT500 didn't have squeaks!
Anyway, I hope to get it sorted soon.

Well it turns out I do have some rattle at a slow speed/bumpy roads. So when they replace my wheels they look at the rattle issue. Service person drove along with me to check the rattle and it was determined to be there but not exactly sure where. He did try to access the easy areas and said he might have to pull out the whole dash or wait and see if it will settle after a few miles. I took the later option and if it gets worse I will let them do it. For now it's such a new baby I can't imagine it being pulled apart at this early age for a minor issue.

It does, but I want to observe it further and see if I can take care of it. If not, I'll definitely have it fix with warranty.

Sorry to hear about the rattles
That's a bit disappointing. I was thinking maybe it just needs to settle in but if it's the dash I'd think it's the opposite. I hope you get it sorted out with your dealer.
As for me, I got my c63 used with 16k and I don't hear any rattles (and I'm OCD about that kind of stuff). The only squeaks I hear are in the suspension as I get in the car if it's been sitting for a few days. Once it's warmed up I'm g2g. I was immediately impressed with how solid everything was in the car so I'm disappointed you're getting the rattles.
As for the mustang, looks nice but I kind of agree with your move. It's nice being able to go from crazy to comfortable in one car.
