That looks pretty great. I think if the car was black it would look better overall. Thanks for sharing.

I'm just concerned that it will suck up way too much crap, leaves, bugs etc during these winter months, that the filters will become clogged. I have changed out my filters and was surprised of the amount of crap that was there.

This is a fair weather car show/track day hood set up, not a DD.

After the hood gets proved out its going back to Dave for some final touches. I talked to Dave today about blending in the edges and painting most of it the car color. Should look MUCH better then.

Thanks guys for all your input. I haven't come this far to start messing up the looks even though it was done for funtionality first, and cosmetically last.

Gone but remembered: Audi S3, C63 AMG, Currently: BMW X5 4.0d, Fiat 500 Arriving: C63 Black Series
Anyone who says this looks good in anyway, is just being way too nice, because of all the work and dedication dads has put into the project. I admire him for all the work he has done on the C63 but in reality, this looks completely out of place. It urgently needs to get blended with the hood and then I think it will look amazing. Maybe the meanest looking hood out there.

Mold it in with some fiberglass to get rid of the abrupt edges. I'm looking forward to the power gains!

Very nice project!! IMO the cf gives it that fear factor whereas color matched it looks more civilized.

It looks great man. I think once you get the lines smoothed out it will look even better.

Also... Im just going to throw this out there... What do you think about inlaying some CF on the hoods side vents?

Also another option would be to widen out the rear of the scoop to follow the lines of the hood? Not sure if this would throw off performance but it would look a little more fitted to the car.

(a)'12 C63 P/P, LSD, 19" m/spoke,comfort pack. (b)Astra SRI.
Question

I'm not a fan of it at all to date.
I'll be interested to see what determinable power gains there are.
Cheers, Pickles.

All credit to you for what you are doing to your car...some amazing stuff. I have two thoughts on the scoop. First, the twin power bulges will always make the scoop look like an dropped-on, add-on no matter what. The leading edge just is never going to meet each power bulge in a cosmetically appealing way. That said, I agree that a black car is by far the best color for the scoop...think molding in the sides and then blending/fading the body color perhaps one third up the side of the scoop. Well, that's what I would do, but those pesky bulges...

home the point
I think it looks sick, but like others have said, the cover could use some molding to blend it in better with the hood, so it wouldn't look like it's glued on.

How about using the the same louvers you use for the heat extractors and reversing them over the air filters? You could design some sort of pop-on cowl facing scoop for wet weather driving. Just thinking out loud!

Many of you have been asking me if the new ram air hood actually helps or not. I am setting up a private track rental to do just that next week.
The weather here in Florida will not be good for outstanding numbers but it will allow me to prove out the hood. Only takes about 15 minutes to swap back and forth.

When I get documented data I'll share that with you good or bad.
If its good I'll have the body shop finish blending in the scoop and making it look better than just being stuck on. At that point if you like it and it works I can hook you up with a package. I don't think it will cost anymore than some of the other air intake options out there. Stay tuned.

Look forward to the results Dads. Would be interesting if there was an easy way to document any differences in the air:fuel ratio. If this thing works as well as it appears it will, you would certainly be able to add some fuel...right?
