C63 Break-in Period

I recently leased a new AMG C63. The car had about 60 miles on it when I took delivery and at least 15 of those miles were driven by the salesperson and me. The rest were from other test drives and the salesperson joked about how hard they drove it. We also drove the car very hard. After coming home and reading the manual, I noticed that it says to NOT drive the car hard for at least 1000 miles. I will be leasing this car for five years and I am concerned that I may run into maintenance issues because the engine wasn't allowed to break-in.

Based on anyone's experience, is this something I should be concerned about? I love the car and don't want any issues that could have been prevented.

Thanks.

Did you ask for a discount? I wouldn't have bought a car I didn't have full control of the break-in. That being said the car should be fine, they are very well built cars. You shouldn't worry about the engine either they are fully tested, instead the transmission is more the area of concern. Nonetheless it should be fine as long as they weren't flipping it into racestart at every light lol. If you have to take this car I would ask for the fluids to be changed no charge. There was an article posted not too long ago about BMW dealer drivers ripping a 1M on youtube. They both got fired since they shouldn't be handling a new car that way. The owner of the car actually found the video and complained.

The breakin period really applies more to the transmission then the engine, as like was mentioned above the engines were fiully tested. The only way to fully test your tranny is in the car. Just take it easy, and ask for the tranny fluid to be changed, if your concerned. I really don't think that you'll have any issues, if so it's covered under warranty, if that should give you some confidence.

Yes
The beauty of a lease - not your problem. If it has an issue, it's under warranty throughout your lease, take it in. Otherwise...enjoy the car and be worry-free!!!

5 year lease? Ouch...I wouldn't go longer than the warranty period, 4 years. That being said, if anything fails by year 4 you should be covered and I am assuming you purchased extended warranty for the 5th year?

I think most of us are hypersensitive about our cars. But, I think your car is gonna be fine.

+1. My understanding is it's really for the diff anyway...which is why that is the fluid that's changed at 1k miles.

I hit manual mode. ESP off and went sideways when I left the dealership with 50km on my car. I don't think I have ever even drove it in C mode or with ESP on... almost 50k km now and she runs like a champ, barely burns any oil compared to most other guys too.

Be religious about gettting service done on time. Some AMG cars have special early stuff e.g. rear diff or transfer case etc. that need doing early so pay attention to that.
When you get to the warranty end date and you are still leasing see about an extended warranty if you are worried at that point.
The other thing to be wary of is if you get invited to a MB sponsored or dealer sponsored event on track ask about what participating will do to the warranty.
Other than that enjoy.

I have had my car broken into twice. Once about this time last year, and once in the fall of 2012. Or was it 2013? No....it was 2012.

What? This is the C63 break in thread, right?
