Common Problems with the C63 AMG

Can you tell me more about the rattle. Mine does this too, almost sounds like it's spitting out water or something. Only does it when parked outside and colder (I think). It rattles at startup but no other times. Then once warm it won't do it again... I have 12k miles on it. Thanks!

I have rattle noise from the rear inside the cabin, sounds like shaking a small plastic bin with a metal pin in it. it is constant as well.
loud snap/pop noise when going through an elevation with a angle when the body is being twisted.

My 2014 C63 does the same thing on some cold starts. I didn't notice it until the summer months though. I plan to mention it to the dealer this week. Hopefully this is normal.

I was looking for issues and came across your seat problem. In my experience with a lot of E class cars the creaking/squeeking of the rear seat backs has been common. The root cause as I have seen it is the cam lock on the seat back does not roll all the way closed and will work loose over time. Take the latch out of the seat and put a very thin shim under the bolts holding it into the seat back. It does not take much to move it up in plane from the seatback and allow the latch to fully engage. Otherwise slam the sucker into position and hold it momentarily.

I appreciate the input. Thanks. AV1 suggested the W204 C63 forum and the list there seemed to focus on squeeks and rattles in the IP more than anything. If that is all I have to deal with I will be fine.
The head bolt issue I will check with my guys as to when they changed over.

From what I've been told it's not limited to the W204.
For what it's worth, Dick Dyer MB in Columbia SC has been great on this. Went to bat for me. MB USA on the other hand needs a lesson in CS...
I like that Dick Dyer Dealership, but then they quoted me at $12,675 to preemptively replace head bolts. That's it. What.

$12,000 Couldn't you take it somewhere else besides the dealer and get it done for a fraction of that ?? Head bolts are not rocket science..

Actually on a 6.3 head bolt replacement approaches rocket science. (This ain't no small block Chevy). To do the job properly you need to pull the heads and cams. You need a special tool to lock the cam chains in place. The head bolts fail due to corrosion. They snap. Many of the bolts are located under the cams. The bolts are torque to yield, one time use, (as are the intake manifold bolts) which means you can't just replace one. So you also have to replace the head gaskets. The MB service bulletin also requires replacement of all the lifters. The parts list alone is over two pages. If the MB tech is really on his game, he will also replace the cam tensioners. If the dealer charged you full parts priced and full labor rates, this job could easily cost 25k.

Anyone got problems with their turn signals? Mine has a mind of it's own and it's dangerous IMO. Had the dealer checked it out and, of course, couldn't verify concern.
The problem is when I choose right, it signals left. Happens intermittently.

A/C light flashes and doesn't come on, on mine. Have less than 20,000 miles, under 2 years old. Use the A/C in summer, only when needed (do not keep it on).
Is this a common problem?
Will take it to dealer soon.

Some electronic gremlin no doubt. No worries you're under warrantee. FYI you run your AC twice a month. The refigerant in the system also acts as a lubricant and keeps the seals from drying out.

I'm new here but have been reading this thread and can offer my 2cents about the squeaks and rattles.
I worked for an auto company for 20 years. I'd get a new car to drive every 3 or 4 months and the last few years I'd get 2 every 3 or 4 months so my wife (ex now) would have one. I had everything from $30k cars to $120k cars and every single one of them had it's own squeaks and rattles. What I can tell you is that it was always a lot worse when it was a new model and that makes sense. Sometimes it was fixed in the April package but most of the time the fix or redesign had to wait til the next model year unless it was human error on the line (robot path programming, excess sealer, etc) The best thing the owner can do is send an email to corporate. Telling the dealer 99% of the time will do nothing unless it's a safety issue they have to report. The manufacturer works on data and the more data of a problem helps future model years from having the same problem. They won't see it as a customer whining. They will log it in the database and it gets back to the engineers and manufacturer fairly quickly.

Seems like it's a hole in the condenser, caused by a stone I suppose. Waiting to hear if it will be covered under warranty. Haven't read about this happening to anyone else's w204...

G'Day Folks,
The boot/trunk on my C63 is to small.
If I want to take a few firearms (rifles) for a drive/shot, I have to fold down one of the rear seats.
So when I do this, I can only get Two friends in with me.
It is OK with Take Down shotguns etc, but not full length rifles.
D'oh!

All firearms must be unloaded. Handguns and registered assault weapons must be in a locked compartment or case. Your trunk, which is not accessible directly from the passenger compartment is considered a locked compartment. Glove boxes and center consoles are not. Trigger locks also do not qualify. Additionally registered assault weapons may only be transported to and from your home a legal place of use. No stop overs.
Your specific question regarding shot or long guns, that are not registered assault weapons, may be transported unloaded in your trunk or passenger compartment. So a broken down shot gun in your trunk is legal to transport. With that said, the DOJ regs are so confusing even to LEOs, Personally I put everything in a locked case even in my trunk.
