Common Problems with the C63 AMG
#26
I got to say, it really seems hit or miss with the build quality of these cars. Some people have great, trouble-free cars, and honestly, I'm happy for those that get to enjoy such a special car with little-to-no problems.
I think this car is special because the engine is awesome and the car looks very nice.

Im at 10k and these are the only minor problems that I have had:
1. broken fog lights (i think many people have experienced this one)
2. squeaking noise when sunroof is open
3. My oil sensor that reads what my oil level is at went bad and had to be replaced
Other than that, awesome car

i have a coupe, and yes they fold down but the driver would have the steering wheel in his chest cause the seat was so far up. so you can do it on the passenger side and they would fit. but, if you have a passenger, they would be smashed up against the dash.
infiniti was able to do it on a smaller car?????

5k miles atm. Starting squeaking about 4k miles. Can't find the cause and it only sometimes does it. Usually after driving it for about 10 mins after a start. Other than that, rock solid. Oh, the only gripe is the turn signal. Very sensitive. Sometimes when changing lanes and not just turning, I go to turn off the signal and I accidently signal the other, makes me feel like an idiot.

... Rattle around Nav screen driving me insane. Seems to go away when cover is pushed on with force, dealer says it's "normal". Anyone have / had this?
On that squaeking passenger seat, I just had my driver's seat adjuster replaced under warranty. Used to make a noise when moving in it / cushion was pushed down.
Steering sqeak was recently fixed by a new hose, still some noise present.

I get a vibration - not really a rattle - when the Sat Nav screen is in the up position and driving on coarse gravel roads. It is almost certainly coming from the cover to the Sat Nav, almost as if it is one of the hinges under it vibrating. Better when the dash has been in the sun so is warm. Haven't raised it with the dealer, is pretty minor really and I dont often drive with the Sat Nav screen raised up

Was a little hesitant to purchase the car due to the pending suit, but I figured if it's not just isolated cases, hopefully we'll all get at least some good will once warranty is up.

1) Ticking noise from the motor due possibly to faulty cams (wouldn't say it's "common", but prevalent enough that there's a class action lawsuit ongoing);
2) Oil consumption/burning (many threads on this);
3) Inadequately sized rear tires; and
4) Foul odor from A/C (easy dealer fix).
These are the ones that have directly affected me. There may be more that I'm unaware of.

Cabin air filter and recirculating seting on the A/C unit. Don't recirculate the air, instead just push the other button(the one that allows air from the outside).
My car use to stink a lot until the last last service when I replaced the cabin filter and I started using the A/C non recirculating mode. My .2c

My concerns would be the oil comsuption but I was told that this engine consumes oil. I am not too worry, I put a quarter every 5 or 6 thousand miles. The other common issue would be the tires getting worn out fast and some smal rattles from the cluster.

I think the oil consumption gets less as the engine ages. And it shouldn't be too much of a concern because the car will tell you when it's low.

AMG C63 Affalterbach Edition
the last few days the "check coolant level" warning comes on at cold startup but disappears after a minute of warmup...i did have the coolant level checked right away (the first time) and it seemed to be normal.
for those of you having smell issues, i recommend Chemical Guys Stripper Scent...it's awesome!

C63s now in the garage. Sold-GLA45 AMG Edition 1, Sold-2010 Mercedes C63
25,000 KM on my 2010
1-high pressure steering pump hose needed replacement (they ended up replacing the entire steering rack)
2-replaced both driver and passager side mirrors (they made awful noise when folding in)
Both under warranty and have had no issues since. My dealer is very nice and always takes very good care of me.

Squeeling brakes, had rears changed afetr 1k, still there, the fronts at 6500km and now all is quiet, I am at 10k now. Rattling from Sat/Nav that goes away when nav is down. So it stays down.
Other than that, considering how stiff the springs are in this car, the rattles/squeaks are not an issue which means that the cars are well built.

GPS, GPS oh, did i mention the GPS.
The dam car has been in 4 times now for the GPS./
And they have actually replace it with a brand new $4k (on the invoice) unit from MBGermany. still the dam thing does not switch on. Shows i am a submarine in the ocean. or is muted.
