Color matched or Clear side markers??

Hey everyone i have my edition 1 Coupe and the first thing i want to do is get rid of the orange sidemarkers.

Do you think i should get color matched matte black or clear sidmarkers and also is it best to purchase them and if so where can i purchase them. Or should i get them done at a shop?

thanks for input

I would go with color-matched paint. Have you checked Evosport's website? I think they have them.

Call evosport, their website is hard to navigate. Im sure they can get them for you in what ever colour you like. Be sure to specify the correct model as the c class coupe has different side markers than the c63 amg coupe. I have them on my 2012 and they are great! worth the extra money as they fit perfectly. they are stamped mercedes side markers! I wouldn't want my side marker falling out and scratching up the paint.. just saying lol

I would save the money & just get the smoked markers... they would look good & be more legal than the painted ones.

Both look great, but I would rather go with color matched.

Sorry about hijacking thread but as non North American owner my curiosity is killing me... why the side markers in the first place?? Are they required by law on North American cars, and if so how can you black them out or whatever and still comply with the regulations??

The law requires them on every cars... but ours is so ugly & out of place... lol

Painting them or smoked them is illegal, we're taking a chance & hope not to get caught for the sake of the "good look". In my opinion, if there's light shinning through, you're less prone to get pull over (painted vs smoked).

Here is my thread from before on my painted side markers from evosport.... there are pictures of how they look at night, with the light shining through.

I personally don't think most police are looking out for that stuff. We'll have to wait and see the first person to get pulled over for this hahaha

I've been looking at a lot of other cars on the road and trying to see if they have the orange side reflectors and if I'm not mistaken, many cars have really small ones or none at all.

I think a cop would have to be reaching for some citation to ticket you for this violation, but if it's illegal, then I understand a cop can bust you.

Honestly, I prefer clear lenses w/ LEDs as opposed to color matching. I think it's a cleaner, more integrated look as opposed to color-matched lenses which look overtly tacked on and covered up...but that's JMO!

I've had clear or smoked corners on both of my cars and haven't ever been pulled over for it. It's not something any police in NYC are paying attention to...that much I guarantee.

I agree, I have the painted one on my Lex & the smoked one on my C63.. Never had a problem. It all depends on how the cops are in ur area... Or what u did to **** them off.

I swapped mine out for painted ones on my E55. Never had a problem. If you go paint I would recommend removing the light bulb or just tuck it in there so the light does not heat up the paint... just to be safe. I have seen long term low heat end up cracking the paint on plastic.

You know what, that reminds me,
I bought a box of resistors and forgot to try them out.
for those who want to block them out (remove the bulb) and not have it trip a warning.

I should go try it out tonight and report back. (think i bought 50 of them)

Color matched is optimal- reflectors are a little too "cheesy" IMHO... but if you have to go reflector it looks ok on white cars... I color matched mine and tucked the bulbs down under with zip ties- no bulb light errors and no lights shining thru a reflector either:
