Oh and to WWMIndy above, why is it remotely relevant to extoll in your sig your religion, ethnicity, political preference, and gun love, supported by a comment about your academic achievement ( to ensure we got the message that you made educated choices about all of this?) on a forum about Mercedes cars? step on the throttle a bit and double click and you should see the car downshift 2 gears quickly. it works on my 08.

I'll try that... most often when I want multiple downshifts it is coming into a corner fast where I'm on the brake. It doesn't seem to work in the circumstance.

oh, can u try this for me when u break in the car:

when flooring it the freeway at 70 mph (or what it is in km)

Manual mode: hold down the down paddle- my car goes from 7th to 4th.

Sport mode- my car goes from 7th to 3rd.

curious to see if this is the same on the upgraded MCT. it is annoying to me since I like to shift myself but holding the down paddle doesn't actually go down to the lowest gear the car should go to.

so for now, if I want to floor it and see how fast the car can go- i have to use s mode on the freeways.

o and what is the difference between s and s+ ?

ya, i know. in that circumstance i think foot on brake and holding down the down paddle will make the car downshift 2-3 gears quickly.

sometimes when i want to downshift 2 gears on the freeway to pass or to gradually accelerate (not WOT)- i keep my foot on the throttle 20% and click 2 times to go from 7th to 5th.

A couple of fast cars.
Nice write up. Agreed on MCT, which feels more like SMG to me than anything. I think it's a function of learning its quirks. DCT/PDK is awesome, but I would prefer a manual (dreaming...please please please AMG come out with a manual option).

S+ just seems a more aggressive version of S in my experience.

gthal- tried to downshift 2 gears today at low speed- 4th to 2nd, didn't work unless i click, wait, then click.

looks like a quick 2 gear downshift only works at higher speed with the little bit of throttle, i.e. 7th to 5th or 6th to 4th... haven't tried 5th to 3rd yet.

curious to know what ur car does when u break it in.

btw- how would u compare the c63/m3 sedans on looks? I agree with u on the m3 edging it a bit on the coupe.

C63 sedan > M3 sedan IMO.

On the coupe, I have actually had way more attention and compliments in the last 3 days than I did with the M3 in the last 3 months. Looks are subjective but a coupe on the street (pictures do NOT do it justice) is getting a lot of attention.

I tried it as well and it would do a rapid downshift from 5 to 2 as an example in some situations... mainly rapid decelleration. Having said that, it still felt like it was engaging interim gears or, at the very least, was no where near as quick to downshift as the DCT was. I need to experiment more.

Anyway, it isn't bad by any stretch but the tranny is the only real weakness of the C63 compared to the M3. Everything else is either very close to the M3 or better.

Gthal, the MCT will never be as good as the DCT. There's still a single wet clutch and it can only shift so fast. The MCT transmission while better then the previous Speedshift 7G Tronic is still the Achilles heel of this car. Doesn't take away much as the car is still a beast.

Very true indeed.

I had not illusions that the MCT would be as good as the DCT. I have also found that the more I drive the MCT in manual mode and learn its nuances, the more I like it. MCT will do just fine IMO

Hot|Ice... hope you get the car soon. The more I drive this car, the more fun I have. Having owned an M3 and having been a HUGE fan of the M3, this car is truly way more fun to drive with the sound and power. I won't say that on M3Post for fear of being massacred but it is true.
