Quote: Very tough choice BUT I would probably go with the Black Series; it's a better all around performer and is just as exclusive in my mind given it's Black Series label.

Maserati's are notoriously unreliable and expensive to maintain...hence the atrocious depreciation that's probably even worse than what most AMG owners are used to.
What he said

Plus here in Pittsburgh, the nearest dealer is now in Cleveland. Kind of a LONG tow WHEN something goes bad, as you know it will. IMHO

Sure does look good though.

Edit: Maseratis are number 2 on the list for poor resale. Jags are number 1 by the way. We are close behing in 3rd.

Quote: I went through this before buying the C63. Had my eye on a beautiful Maserati GT, but simply couldn't see it as a DD which is what I wanted. As for the BS I can't see spending all those $$$ for a car that has pretty much the same HP as my tuned C63. I think it's overpriced for what it is, but to each his own.
This is what held me back from the BS too. My 2 year old C63 PP is now worth half of what a new black series would cost... and i just don't see it as twice the vehicle.

A maserati would certainly have some 'sense of occasion' to it. It always plays bridesmaid to other exotics but maybe when compared to a C63 it would win out.

I couldn't make this decision without driving both... which is tough to do as you have to order the BS without a test drive. not an easy choice!

Shoot me a PM with your contact info. When mine comes in, after breaking it in, I'll let you take it for a rip.

It took 5 mins of ownership to realize how different the CLK 63 BS was compared to the C63, easily twice the car. This is after lots of hesitation, I didn't believe what people were saying about the car, it's like no other Mercedes.

You really shouldn't buy any sportscar or exotic using resale value as the most important factor. A 2 year old Ferrari 612 can be had for less than half price from it's original value. 2009 430 Scuderias are selling close to the 150k's (originally 270k)and that is a "limited edition" Ferrari. You shouldn't care what another person thinks in regards to buying an exotic. The Aston Martin Vantage/DBS and Maser Gran Turismo are, in my opInion, the most beautiful GT's on the market. I have good friend's with both cars, and both designs are "stunning". All of that said, For my needs, personally, I would take a C63 Black Series over both of these cars. 7:45 around the Nurburgring Nordsleife is damn fast and there will be much less BS around than the other two GT cars.

ive owned a maza GT but the 4.2 liter not the S and ive test driven the S ... imo .. the best sounding car (stock) but in close comparison to the C63 .. other than that .. its italian, the inside feels like an LV bag, if you appreciate fashion, style, and serious luxury, nothing beats the handcrafted mazas or the astons .. my dad recently got the ferrari california, and i had an epiphany driving it .. the top down, sun shining, wind hitting your face, your favorite tune playing, the italian car seating position, and the sound of that revy engine ... all can replace any anti-depressant one could be on :P
my close friend has a vantage, and ive driven it several times, that too is a competitor ..
i love my C63 but i purchased it knowing it is common and it does get old, which is why we tend to tune it, upgrade the bodykit and whatnot .. but take your lady to a nice dinner in a maza or an aston and thats just a different feeling ... its no longer a matter of speed or performance in my opinion .. if it was ! then the BS is something else and you really shouldnt turn it down

Catch my drift ??

Good friend had both an 08 Lambo Gallardo spider (his) and 08 Maserati Gran Turismo (not as S). Lambo is sensory overload although not really much faster then C63, not as quick as Z06! Screams "look at me," and all the CHP do. The GT, as most have pointed out, beautiful package, not huge performer. But looks and sounds great. The S is better, but not hugely so. He ultimately traded it in on a 2011 Ferrari California. He doesn't take my advice. I would vote C63 unless you can get your hands on 2013 Carrera S (11.7 quarter mile!).

Quote: Not enough power in the Maserati.

That's the problem. A car that looks and sounds as good as the Maserati should have the punch to match.

Until you roll up on on an E63 and get embarassed by a middle-aged podiatrist on his way to Whole Foods with his A/C seats on and his labrador in the backseat

I have both, well I have the older 2010 model GT S, ECU/pully and filters.

The Bad:
1. It is slow.. even driving against my wife( and she hates gunning it) she slaughters me
2. The gearbox is a sludge box.
3. Weight - The car is heavy, f*** heavy, It feels and drives heavy. (I actually think its heavier than the c63)
4. Seats are way to big - you slide around ( i am 5"10 160)
5. Eats the OEM tires as quick if not quicker than my DD C63
6. Paddle shifts stay on the column.

Good:
1. Looks - It looks amazing. So much so that at least 1-2 times a day driving it ppl take pictures.
2. Sounds amazing. I love the sound.
3. Spacious, its a true GT (Grand Tourer) can fit 2 adults in the back.
4. Great on long hauls. Smooth easy going

As they say in the movies, "Different strokes for Different folks"
Two completely different cars for completely different tasks!!

I will pick the GT for the wife as the C63 is pretty much a guy's car and for me my wife is driving the C everyday now, and I'd buy her the GT and have my C back the GT fits female driver more in my opinion
