Anyone Experience This?

Hey guys...just thought I'd seek some guidance on this..

When you give your engine a little throttle at idle, does your car ever feel like you don't get the normal throttle response?

Sometimes I rev my car and it feels like 100% of the power is there, and sounds accordingly...but at others it's like there's half the engine there..sounds totally weak and it's hard to get the rev's to rise..

Am I missing something?

Yeah, it's weird though...almost like the fuel is being cut or something..did it again just now after running some errands...oil was at 221 and water at 197...

there shouldn't be any reason that the engine throttles itself back under no load...never used to do that - hmmm

Well that sure doesn't sound right, when I rev my engine, I get 100% all the time, and temp doesn't effect it that much.

No CEL - and interesting to hear that you get 100% or a constant pedal response all the time..

Are you talking about throttle response when the car is in park? I know that if I floor it for a moment and release, very little happens due to throttle by wire deciding against delayed response (reads it as a false alarm i guess.)

Foot resting on the brake sometimes maybe? I believe a foot of the brake will limit throttle input.

You can reset the ECU and TCU then try it again.

Foot's never resting on the brake when reving..

How do you initiate a TCU and ECU reset? Am familiar with clearing the adaptive throttle, but not the former...any help would be appreciated.

The only way I have heard to reset the ECU (and TCU? if there are adaptive cells in the TCU) is to disconnect the battery for a while. Not sure how long is really required but I would leave it off for 1/2 hour just to be sure.

It has to do with the traction control limiting the throttle. Turn the traction to SPORT or off completely. This happens to me from time to time to time.

I haven't driven my car once without Sport ESP setting on...

And I think you have misunderstood my post...this happens when in park (or neutral) when reving my engine...

Does anyone know if our ECU's start cutting back power at a certain temperature?
