Who makes the best racing / track wheels?

Aesthetics aside, who makes the best race-spec wheels? Forgeline? HRE? Volk Racing?

I guess by "best" i mean strongest and most able to deal up with the stress of track use.

Thanks!

CCW for the drag strip. I am no expert on the road course so I would wait on someone else for that. HRE has an amazing wheel though. I cant believe you could go wrong with them.

HRE, BBS, CCW, and VOLK make the best track wheels out there.

Here's something I posted little bit ago. Please let me know if there's anything I can help you answer. Our Motorsport collection is highly engineered and many customers and race teams have had great success on our wheels.

HRE Wheels since it's inception has had a motorsport presence in the US. In fact, HRE was founded as a motorsports brand over 30 years ago. Many assume that HRE is a street performance wheel brand due to our overwhelming success in that genre over the past couple decades. We had not previously promoted our racing involvement and thought I would share our recent achievements in the Motorsport world.

Too keep this concise, here is a short listing of some of our most recent Motorsport activities with which most of you are probably unaware.
  • 2011 Pikes Peak- 1st Place & New World Record 2011 - Monster Tajima
  • 2011 Pikes Peak 2nd Place - Rhys Millen Racing
  • 2011 Global Rallycross Championship/X-Games - Rhys Millen Racing
  • 2010 Formula Drift Champion - Vaughn Gittin Jr./Falken Tire
  • 2011 Formula Drift 2nd Place - Justin Pawlak/Falken Tire
  • 2011 American Le Mans - West Racing Lamborghini - Limited Schedule
  • 2011 American Iron Northwest Region Champion - Chris Cobetto
  • 2010 Texas Mile 249.7 MPH - Heffner Performance Ford GT
  • 2010 Texas Mile 247.7 MPH - Autobanh Toyota Supra
  • 2010 Grand Am Championship - GS Class - Fall Line Motorsports
  • 2009/2010 Grand Am 24 Hr. of Daytona - 1st Place GS Class - Rum Bum Racing
  • 2009-2011 Time Attack - Multiple track and class records - Chris Rado Scion TC

Thanks Lon, that was a great post.

I love the look of the R40 and R43 (I saw them at a dealer as well) but they are not available in 19" right? I am looking for 19" wheels.

If its not too much trouble, can you please explain the key differences between the R, C, and CL series? It looks to me that R is monoblock, C is 3 piece and CL is centre lock...so more about pros and cons of each.

Also, i note that your last pic above says "structural warranty"...is this like Forgeline's racing warranty (meaning the warranty is still good if you track the wheel)?

Thanks!
RL

Structural issues within two years of the original purchase date, we will honor the warranty. So feel comfortable enjoying your car and HRE Wheels.

The R40 Series is a Monoblok 1pc available in 17" or 18" fitments only. The P40S Series is a Monoblok 1pc available in 18" to 20" options. The P40S is still a highly capable wheel for the weekend track use. If you require an 19" option, the P40S will work. The C90 Series is part of our Comp Series and is a 3 pc wheel featuring titanium hardware. CL designates center lock fitments, we have 1pc and 3pc options for centerlock vehicle applications. Also the P40S is available in a centerlock option.

I see that you have a C63, if you require a 19" then the P40S Series would be your best option for a 1pc. The C90 Series would be your option in a 3pc wheel in 19".

R40 is only available in 17" or 18" options.

Feel free to call me at the office or email me directly at lonm@hrewheels.com, I can help you with your options.
