Can't believe some of you guys didn't know about the electric rear window blind, OR the manual side items.
My dealer provided us with about a 15 page document on the C series, incl the C63, which detailed all of the options available, ....we were then able to choose what we wanted.....but both of these items are optional on the C63 in Oz, the rear blind & keyless go forming part of a "comfort pack".
Had NO hesitation in ordering the rear blind....in view of the "Aussie" sun. I usually have a venetian blind (a common option in Aus, because of the Sun!)in the back of our cars...but this option is much better.
Cheers, Pickles.

For some reason, I'm not keen on tint....."factory tinted windows"....yeah, no problem with them.....but I don't think that option even exists any more does it......because owners like yourself avail themselves of the very excellent tints that are now available.
I just think "tint" is a bit of an "add on"..a poor substitute for a factory tinted window....and I know that's not right....I'm probably rhe only guy on here that does think that way......but I'm old.....so go easy on me.
Cheers, Pickles.

This is the only "proof" I have that side window blinds were an option on 2011 C63, for Australian delivered versions at least:

You will need to scroll down to the Options section. This is from a valuations website in Australia, rather than an MB site.

Power Rear Sunshade: Code 540
Manual Roller Blinds for Rear Side Windows: Code 297
They are individual options and need to be ordered separately unless packaged by the specific market (eg Canada with the Premium Rear Seating package).

I have tinted windows and use the rear blind all the time when parking outside or driving in bright sunlight. I have the red Mercedes Designo leather interior, so paranoid about the rear headrests turning pink after a few summers. Must be more of an Aussie concern.

How are you my friend....I see an HSV there.....I think we've "spoken" on the LS1 site before.

I have to agree with some of the points you’ve made. I’m also no youngster and remember when cars didn’t have tint and I still prefer the clean look of them without it and you’re right, aftermarket is a poor substitute for factory.
I wouldn’t bother with aftermarket if the glass was tinted by the manufacturer, unfortunately it’s not and the blinds they offer are limited as they don’t protect the front of the vehicle.
It can be 100 to 110 degrees for weeks on end out where I come from (North West NSW) so tint on the sides and rear is absolutely necessary. I also live in Sydney and on the NSW Central Coast and both get their fair share of heat as well.
Those that live in these types of locations will fully appreciate the help good quality tint offers when trying to keep the interior temperatures down as well as reducing the intensity of the sun & heat coming through the glass on long trips plus less work for the air conditioner to do on start up.
Why doesn’t the car come tinted? I don’t think too many do these days.
It’s possible that as a global vehicle the tinting isn’t necessary in many of the markets so the blinds are the option if you do need something. If you need more then aftermarket tint which is also offered by the dealer if you’re interested gives even more protection.

I have it and love it, i always have it up during the day since i think it helps keep temperatures inside the car lower plus it makes the rear darker and i use it at night if i have a huge truck behind me with hid´s. I wish i had rear manual window shades as well though.

I retrofitted the rear sunshade for my FL W204.
It's not too hard to retrofit, but you have to be careful for some trim parts...
You need to find the parts list from EPC for powered sunshade, trim parts, button panel and SAM unit.
Now I'm thinking to retrofit manual side roller blinds, it should be much easier
Filling up all the buttons on the dashboard is making me feel nice(I also retrofitted front heated seats with genuine parts).

I always have mine up... Tint regulation in Hawaii are very strict... So, I have panorama tints all around, but to add the darkness, I keep mines up.
