expensive cars on college campuses
The big boom in their economy in recent years makes it easy for them to purchase these vehicles.
In China a C63 will cost upwards of $120k where here its about 85k which makes a big difference.
Where a Rolls Royce here is 500k there its over 1.3 million, but China still made Bentley Rolls Royce hit record sales this year...

That article shows you what kind of cars they drive.
And after talking to some friends they tell me that the parents buy the kids these cars so they can impress people, for young asian guys its mostly to get a girlfriend. We are seeing nicer and nicer cars because they have to "Stand out" more than the next asian guy. Pathetic in my opinion, but maybe thats just because I saved every penny for my car.
They buy them because they can afford to. It's socially accepted and the norm in many cultures that ones children assume much of their parents wealth when they turn adults.
You go to Annandale/Eden Seven Corners, you will see nice cars as well. Showing off wealth is very common in the asian community as a sign of prosperity and making it.

probably explains why I picked up a CL55 eh?

here my car cost less than the c220 cdi we have in thailand lol (got my c63 for 67 tax included, the c220 was equivalent to about 100,000 usd there)
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I spent some time at University College in Oxford and some of the students wore the same suit for three months straight. Any car would have been a total luxury to them, yet their people could have afforded a Bentley.
Whatever, I guess times change as well as values.
Another person I know of in Singapore has a basic base model c180 which cost around 120k usd.
I also know for a fact that a c180 costs around 50-60k usd in India and they are very common cars there now. Infact a friend told me his cousin bought a 2003 used sl55 in India for 100k usd! I mean damn!
To compare, USA and UK have some of the cheapest car prices in the world! I'm not complaining!
