You guys are bang on, its the chinese here in Vancouver.

The big boom in their economy in recent years makes it easy for them to purchase these vehicles.

In China a C63 will cost upwards of $120k where here its about 85k which makes a big difference.

Where a Rolls Royce here is 500k there its over 1.3 million, but China still made Bentley Rolls Royce hit record sales this year...

That article shows you what kind of cars they drive.

I think its safe to assume which university has the most asians will have the most nice cars. I hate to say it but it is so true.

And after talking to some friends they tell me that the parents buy the kids these cars so they can impress people, for young asian guys its mostly to get a girlfriend. We are seeing nicer and nicer cars because they have to "Stand out" more than the next asian guy. Pathetic in my opinion, but maybe thats just because I saved every penny for my car.

They buy them because they can afford to. It's socially accepted and the norm in many cultures that ones children assume much of their parents wealth when they turn adults.

Alot of the middle eastern send their kids to DC area for studies and end up with nice cars too. Several of my friends have nice cars as well as others that i have met on this forum at MIR raceway.

You go to Annandale/Eden Seven Corners, you will see nice cars as well. Showing off wealth is very common in the asian community as a sign of prosperity and making it.

Middle easterners got em oil money, so they are given. I've seen some nice cars in Annandale, but less so at 7 corners.

hahaha I posted this on my facebook and got a lot of feedback. Being a Korean American, I can vouch for this statement when I say this is completely 100% true. Might not be ALL Korean women, but MOST would be fairly accurate LOL

probably explains why I picked up a CL55 eh?

Your right Late_Bloomer, import taxes in many european and asian countries are crazy. A crappy honda in some countries is the same price as a new M3 in the States... My buddy lives in Croatia and told me an M3 over there would cost over $100,000... and thats before you realize that gas is 2-4x more expensive than the US.

So much for Yankee frugality

In college a Jeep Grand Cherokee was the epitome of wealth and prestige. One guy had a Hummer and this literally freaked people out. I have grown up with very wealthy peers, friends, and family. Purchasing any of these cars for a teen would have been considered beyond vulgar. The price is not the issue but the principle of the matter - usually you had to make a hell of an effort to earn a portion of the car as a good faith effort. You had to really appreciate the value of the thing.

I spent some time at University College in Oxford and some of the students wore the same suit for three months straight. Any car would have been a total luxury to them, yet their people could have afforded a Bentley.

Whatever, I guess times change as well as values.

I have a friend over in Egypt, his bmw 320i coupe cost him around 80k usd.

Another person I know of in Singapore has a basic base model c180 which cost around 120k usd.

I also know for a fact that a c180 costs around 50-60k usd in India and they are very common cars there now. Infact a friend told me his cousin bought a 2003 used sl55 in India for 100k usd! I mean damn!

To compare, USA and UK have some of the cheapest car prices in the world! I'm not complaining!
