Gained 35whp, But still managed to drive something alot faster
Today i decided to pull the trigger on getting a Weistec Tune. I had never been there but i have to say very nice shop and nice cars 2 supercharged clk black series, 2 nice C63's i believe both are on these forums. Anyways i got the tune with an estimated gain of around 35whp and 20 or so wtq. Afterwards i was very happy with results car pulled alot harder and throttle response was amazing. C now feels like S, S now feels like S+, and S+ is unexplainable haha. Its good to get back into the 500hp range like my old M6, but gotta say this car feels much faster.
-Overall great experience, clean shop, nice employees i dealt with Matt to be specific, tune was done in a timely manner, and no hassles were involved. I would return to them in the future... They know their AMG's.
Now this is off topic but my Dad has been car searching as of late and basically narrowed choices to F430 or SLR Mclaren. Im pushing for SLR (as it is my ultimate dream car, and also due to the exclusivity, i see a F430 probably 2 times a weekend i have only seen 2 SLR's in my life) cutting to the chase, my dad and I went to go check out the same SLR for the second day in a row. Today we both got to test drive, that car is an absolute beast. At first everything seems weird (huge steering wheel and it is very stiff, stiff brakes, hood goes out forever haha, feels like your in a jet, and all windows are absolutely tiny, but cant expect less for a super car) but after a few minutes you get the hang of it and it isnt very hard to drive. I did one full throttle pull from 35 to 105mph and i have never been thrown in my seat harder in my entire life, that car is ridiculously fast as long as it is getting some decent traction haha. The sound is intoxicating, and the handling was good around the windy roads i gladly got to go on. All in all really nice car and my dad loved it, should be my new garage mate within a few days i will upload a nice photoshoot soon, but for the time being here is a teaser pic of the 2 together...
P.s if any one has heard or knows of any negatives on the SLR please share, as it could be helpful thanks.

Congrats on the SLR! It's an amazing car, still one of my favorites for an everyday track car. I was lucky enough to play with one a few years ago, dealer called me up to drive the car at the track, giving their good customer rides to show what the car can do. One of the best 40 laps of my life.
I'd love to own one someday, when I could afford the Carrera GT expensive maintenance costs.

Not planning on hitting track any time soon but a dyne test should be in my near future.
And Vaclav I may have possibly been in the 500hp prior to the tune but now I'm well into it, haha

The tune alone would get me +30whp on top of p31, but with my supporting mods such as filters, charcoal delete, and secondary cat delete the tune is alittle more effective.

Where did you get the +35 whp from if you haven't performed a before and after dyno?

Speaking with Kleeman and Eurocharged....
They said there is very little to gain from a tune on a P31 C63.
Tops they said was MAYBE 5-10RWHP
There's a comparasion video of a OE tuned C63 vs a factory stock P31... And they were dead even.
Really won't know the gains if any until there's a dyno comparison

Things add up to me. You didn't make as much power as a "regular" C63 because you already start with a "481hp" which is more like in the 500-510hp crank.
This is very much in pair of what other sources are showing.

There is very long and detailed old thread on here from a guy in the UK who had his p31 tuned by brabus (big bucks) and had before and after dyno with something like a 5hp gain right up top if i remember correctly. He ended up getting a full refund.
The forum members name is palmball search it up he posted in great detail about it.
In all honesty I would like to have thought that the 5-6k p31 option should at least match most non p31 tuned c63's if not better them! Makes sense to me.
Also surely the engine balance and sound is different on the p31 vs tune because of the upgraded internals? I'm guessing its more than just power. P31 sounds different but maybe thats just me?

this just creeped up on my facebook wall.. velos designwerks put down 442 to the wheels *1.16 = 512.72 to the crank.
their c63 did NOT have the p31 package. from what i understand the p31 package has SLS internals. so 451HP to 481HP + 35HP from the tune = 516...
sounds fair to me considering velos another reputable tuner put down 512 if i'm correct in that the p31 package does have SLS internal than this c63,
WITH the p31 package should have even more than 512hp to the crank** guess well have to stay tuned for some dyno numbers.
here are some number from weistec. found this on their website. this is from their e63 they dyno'd. somewhat similar.

Thing is guys. P31 has shown to be pretty much dead even with a tuned car in races.
Secondly, A guy previously got a P31 tuned by Brabus, he did a before and after tune dyno, the car gain 5 RWHP.
Thirdly, guys have dyno'd P31 cars and they shown around 500-510hp at the crank assuming 18% DT loss...
If you gained 35 RWHP, It would be safe to say you would be sitting at 540HP Crank HP....
Which some other competitors are claiming they are getting from their tunes now so perhaps its correct.
Personally I think its a bit high as all these tuned cars are running 119mph trap speeds and that is what I was running with my 510HP Renntech tune... P31 cars are also trapping 119mph as well.
