Staggered setup???

What kind of setup is everyone running in the winter? I live up in Toronto and we will get a bit of snow in the winter (with exception of this past season). MB recommends non staggered 235/40/18's or 225/40/18's.

Have any of you run 225's or 235's on all corners? How did you feel the car handled in dry weather (when driving somewhat aggressively) using these setups?

Would any of you recommend running a staggered setup, even in poor winter driving areas? How much of a difference does it make?

Any input would be helpful?

I ran 225/40-18 square and the car was fine. Worked really well in bad weather and was OK in the dry. When these are worn, I will go 235/40-18. The bigger impact on dry performance, IMO, will be the choice of winter tire. I had LM-60 which are oriented to snow... get a set of PA3 and they will perform better in the dry. Regardless, you can't push the car as hard with skinny winter tires staggered or not.

my wife bananas! :D
This is a good thread as I am thinking about winters as well. Was thinking of just putting winter tires on the stock AMG 18s when the existing ones go bald this summer, thoughts on this?

Non staggered set up will be fine in the winter. Just make sure they put the wider wheels in the back of the car. You would be surprised at how many techs put them on wrong.

As suggested, try the PA3's...they are awesome tires for the winter
