Anyone Crazy enough for a 50k markup on a Black Series

The NSX is an interesting one, even if you paid more than MSRP first year, you'll be able to make it back selling it today. The prices are crazy!
Not many CLK BS's sold over MSRP. In fact, most of them sold well below MSRP, the last of the new ones were blown out at ~$90k new. There was way more supply than demand back in 2008. If anything, it was the Porsche guys buying 'em up as daily drivers did people really know what the car was about, spiking demand, and bumping prices back into the 6 figure mark on the used market.
The C63 BS is a little different. People know what it's about now. There's only 70 coming to the US. The supply isn't meeting demand, so we'll see them trade above MSRP. I doubt the car will hold value though. There will be the next great Black Series in a few years, and prices will tumble, like the CLK BS prices are now.
I'm lucky to have an excellent relationship with my dealer. I got a discount on mine.

The more expensive the car the bigger the depreciation. One thing I hate about MB and AMG is that they seem to depreciate more than other brands. Even the Black Series.

the more exotic the car is, the more it depreciates . Car sales always claim that exotics hold the best resale value and thats totally wrong. Most of the exotcis hold worse resale value then a Toyota Camry or corolla. You can see a lot of exotics out there with only 2-3 years, is only selling 50% of the msrp.

In recent memory, the Audi R8, and the first 2 years of the Nissan GT-R was amazing in terms of resale value. If you bought an R8 when it first came out, you could've driven it for 3 years, and resold it for the same price.
I'm still amazed at the NSX's. They MSRP'd in the $40's when they first came out. There are first year cars selling for more than original MSRP.

You sure? 1991's stickers were $60k-ish as I recall. Bubbled up to the high 80's and 90's in later years w/ the facelift. People were paying insane premiums above MSRP early on for NSX's.

Oops, you're right. I don't know why I thought high 40's. They MSRP'd for $60k. Still very little depreciation, as they sell mint 91's in the 40's.

It's all Supply vs Demand. If it's controlled by the manufacturer properly, it'll sustain value in the secondary market. Of course, manufacturers want to pump out as many cars as possible to meet demand and make money, hence it's rare to see demand higher than supply.
