Question check engine light on

My CEL has come on and im thinking it may have been caused by loose gas cap does anyone know if it could be anything else and if it is the gas cap how long will it stay lit, will it go off by its self, do i need to take it to dealership and have it reset any info would be highly appreciated
Many thanks

If it's a loose gas cap, it would go off when tightened and the car restarted. If not, just take it in to the dealer. Anything else would be speculation.

Had the same problem. Took it in, they had to remove the "Gas" tank, a seal/valve issue. All good now. Take it in,

Bull dog, I wish it were always so easy as just a gas cap/ seal. On a brand new car I had two separate events several months apart due to a bad inlet air injector and then excess carbon on an eshaust port sensor. Fixed under warranty, but took 3 weeks total. Detailed writeups somewhere in this forum under CEL topics. Motoman
