Resetting Dash gauges
Hello new to the game here. I have a 1997 E420 and a dash gauge bulb blow. I pulled the instrument panel replaced the bulb (not hard). What i have now is a speedometer and temperature gauge. Fuel and tach gauge read very low a the gauge. ( 1/2 tank of gas reads as almost empty). Can you reset the gauge by pulling the battery?

Pulling the gauge panel and changing a bulb should not do that. me thinks you swapped out the gauge for a new one with lower miles or you did not plug them in correctly. Recheck what you did. I know those dashes are specific to what diff you had.. 2.24 ect.. but that should not throw out your gas reading. they are all resistance based. So either they will work or not but if they are off that means you put in a cluster that operates at a different resistance. gl

2 years ago i pulled the whole dash changing my evap. not a problem at all. This time i tried to replace all the dash bulbs with led bulbs (cool look) but didn't like it. Now a have this problem.

Simple test then.
Pull the LED's out and see if yourguages goes back to normal.
If they do.. holding breath... then just add a resistor to the LED's to simulate the load that they will take. They are low wattage..
