Quick Question About Getting Temporary Plates
I recently bought a C63 from a private party in MD (I live in VA). I paid him this past Monday and he left the car in my possession. It has been in my garage since I got it, but I haven't been able to register it yet, because I have to wait for the Lien Release from his bank. My check should clear sometime this week and then they will FedEx the Lien Release to me and I can officially register the car at the DMV...but the wait is killing me.
Basically, I want to know: can I go to the DMV with the Bill of Sale and Title that he signed over to me and get temporary plates to use until I receive the Lien Release?

That's what I did, they took the AZ title and converted it to a CA title. They will need to know the lien holder info for that to take place. If you've paid it in full, then you should be okay.

Why don't you just call them?

I highly doubt that ANY state DMV will allow you to put the car on the road in your name w/o the lien release.
