How can I get a 2nd ECU?
Hey guys
I been thinking alot about getting my self an extra ECU and have it tuned for when i take the car out to the track. I tried getting it through my local Merc dealer here in Kuwait and well long story short they wont do it.
i tried calling a few dealers in the states and see if i can order one from there however, my Vin doesn't show up on their systems for some reason.
i assume because the Vin isnt a US Vin.
do i have another option?

Make sure your local dealer is willing to pair it with your vehicle. What you order on the internet will not work with your car until your vin is encoded on it. This can only be done by dealers or certain shops who have authorized access to the MB server. If they won't sell you an ECU I would be concerned that they won't program one that you bring in either.

you can't order a ECU from parts.com the ecu comes vin coded from the factory not from a dealer. The only way to get an ECU in a car in the USA at least is the ecu has to have failed and be in the service department. Even if the VIN matches up and they have your info, it's still a theft relevant part (TRP) that will not be released over the counter at least per MBUSA's policies. I am sure you know the vehicles origins, that's where you need to try and procure the part from, your local dealer ship should be able to assist if the vehicle is registered there, the problem is that Mercedes does not like when vehicles are exported so that is most likely the reason you are having issues.

You can order a spare ECU and have it flashed at the local dealer. The dealer itself will put it on the online system and it will get the vin number flashed. That's what some of my friends have done here in Qatar to have another ECU for Race Gas Tune

that is defintely correct.
To the OP, Make sure your local dealer will accept to put it on the MB server and get it flashed for your vin number
And if they don't just pull them out an assault rifle and force them to do so![Violent](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/violent.gif)
