Thanks Jeff! I am having trouble finding what will work best for me too! I connected my iphone and ipod but all it does is just play the song. i cant change tracks, and see the song list on the screen and just cant figure how to do it.

Im looking at the black one more seriously now if you want the black wheels from that car for now.

The painted calipers, different side markers, and worthless brabus badges they put on makes me nervous even though it only has 20k miles.

Let me know what you thought of the black one, I was actually looking at getting a white one too at first, looks awesome.

well, i didnt pursue the black one purely because of the listed price and the color. i already have a black A5 and the maintenance just keeps me busy all the time..lol
the black one was parked right next to our 'negotiation' table within the table and i can tell u thats its spotless and really stands out as an AMG. carlos was the salesguy i dealt with and he was pleasant and patient throughout even though u cant really escape the sales guy BS they all dish out. i was apprehensive about the white one at first coz of the miles but eventually bit the bullet coz the warranty will cover me anyways.
there's one over in modesto right now which is 2010 with 41k miles. i did not go and check the vehicle since it was stolen for a day and then recovered minus the wheels, so i am not really sure if its a 'salvaged' vehicle.
if you really want the black one, i'd say go with a fixed price and stick to it coz its been with the dealer since may and i am sure they would want to get rid of it.
i would ve loved black wheels but no plans coz i want the stock look for a while. however, the wheels look great in person IMO.

I have seen the car in Modesto at the dealer. Its silver and has zero options....no leather, no nav etc. They were originally asking over 50k! but have come down. Given the lack of options, miles and history they will have a hard time selling it at any price!

FYI: Can't recommend Modesto dealership either, have had extremely poor experience here! I use Pleasanton dealership which has been excellent!

The iPod interface on the 2008/2009 W204 doesn't display on the Radio, but it DOES display on the dashboard console - you just need to ndavigate to "radio" with the left/right buttons. You can navigate tracks, and such. I think it sucks horribly, but it's there. Check the owners manual, you can use the hangup button to help navigate around as well.

I posted this in the "secrets" thread, but a shortcut to the iPod is to press "DISC". If there's nothing in the CD player, it'll default to the iPod connector. Then you use the steering wheel buttons to navigate your iPod menu. Unfortunately, you can only see one line at a time, so if you want to find a track, you have to scroll manually. It's lame, but it's better than nothing.

To the OP, I've been to RAB and my salesman was pretty nice on our first purchase there, but the Pleasanton dealer was awesome.

I think the Pleasanton one is family owned too which I like and they seem to be open to bargaining a fair deal on things without having to get confrontational or too full of BS.

Just another option for you on service if its close by, congrats again.

^^^ I agree, Pleasanton has been great....I drive from Modesto for service here and I have a Mercedes dealer in town (Modesto GM is completely out of touch with the local market).

FWIW, my service experiences with MB Walnut Creek have been good so far and a couple of my neighbors have bought C-classes from MB Oakland. I'd look into those dealerships too.

Co-worker bought a new vehicle from Walnut Creek and said they definately treated him like he was buying a luxury car.

But he also just walked in and bought the car with no deal, savings or any money taken off of asking prices for stuff which was fine by him as he just wanted good service.

Seems like a nice spot for service itself.

I plan to go to Smythe european on stevens creek blvd for all my servicing and issues. all other dealerships are too far away.

Well, WC provides a shuttle to and from. The times I'd had them work on my car they treated it well as the tried to eliminate the rattles. It worked for a couple of days. Another time, they were willing to warranty out my key fobs due to cracked buttons, but instead of waiting to order the new type of fobs, they checked in their inventory and found a couple of fobs a customer had never picked up. I was in and out with new keys in 10 minutes.

UPDATE -- I received my replacement "TuneLink" unit from Amazon, and my first outing was very promising. 20+ minutes with no hiccups or issues . The first may have just been a dud.

The 3.5mm jack install was very easy and only took about 5 minutes total to do (once I shaved down the 3.5mm plug on the wire (to fit a 3/8" drill hole). Very tight, and looks factory stock to me.
