Beautiful car! Almost exactly like mine. It looks like I should have done the BFARP. Next time.
I didn't go to the "Ring". I had too many girls with me and I was worried about the break in (didn't put over 1k on her). I'm jealous that you got to do that. However, the roads/higheways of Germany offer a very pleasant drive.
Did you get the tracking info from IFFUSA? Once they've updated it to include the vessel's name, you can track it's progress here.
Thought it was kinda cool when I found this (I'm a bit anxious for her to get here).
Congrats and thanks for sharing.

The Ring was an adventure. I'd absolutely do it again, though the thought of someone else hitting me on the track was a bit nerve racking.
You are spot on about the roads. Nicest I've ever driven on. Being able to go whatever speed you desire is pretty nice. They definitely know how to drive over there.
I didn't know about the tracking info. I'll have to see if I can't run it down as I am pretty curious about where the car's at. Thanks for sharing that.
I hope this helps.

Less than you'd think! The Black Forest Alps Rally Package(BFARP) is $1,300 for a 5 night stay at 4-5 star hotels. Breakfast and dinner(at two of the hotels) is included. In all the trip cost me roughly $4,000, BFARP included. With the discounts off MSRP I still came out ahead.
I hope this helps.

I forgot to mention this in previous posts and figured it was a pretty good tid bit of info I nor Herb knew about.
When doing the EDP, you can actually pick your AMG up straight from the facility in Affalterbach. Your key FOB set will come engraved with your name on them. You'll get a lunch prepared in the AMG private lounge, the facility tour, and of course, meeting your engine crafter.
I was a bit bummed that I didn't know about this prior. While touring the production plant near Stuttgart where the car is actually produced was cool, picking the vehicle up from the AMG facility one-on-one would be more intimate and unique(as opposed to going out on to a big delivery floor like everyone else).
Oh well. Next time.

Indeed. Everyone I know who's done ED (on AMG's, M's, and Porsches) can't stop raving about how incredible the experience was. For my next German DD that I order, I may just have to do that.

I'm going to do ED on every European car I buy from now on. Honestly, my wife and I are already planning on doing ED on another AMG within the next 2/3 years.
Germany is a beautiful country, but it's more than that. After going there I'm proud to have a German car (well, more so). The people there are kind, considerate, take pride in their country/work, and there wasn't any litter on the streets/highways.
If there is an issue with a German car, it's not because someone at the factory did a "halfass" job.
If more Americans approached life as the Germans do the states would be much better off. Fact.
cmvash- You should be receiving an email from IFFUSA. They'll give you a login/password so you can track the car, but their site isn't updated often. As I said, once you have the vessel name you can track it here.

Car looks great man! Looks like you had a lot of fun!
I'm planning on doing EDP too, setting it up either this week or next. How long did it take from the time you placed the order at the dealer until you could go out to see it?

Does look like a heck of an experience. I am seriously considering doing one next summer since this years overseas trip is already spoken for. Even been considering "gifting" the ED to my parents since they are over there anyway and figured that is something they'd never get to experience otherwise.
