Get someone to photoshop different HRE options and different finishes. That's the only way to give you a really good idea before you pull the trigger. That or just surfing the HRE website and seeing how they look on their vehicles.

sorry but I had an E92 m3 with DCT and modded to about 400 whp (408 actually on a DD) and there is NO comparo. This car is better in every way sans the tranny and maybe the ECU/TCU programming.

Late to the party, but, Vic, congrats seriously! This is truly amazing. Absolutely stunning.

Nice grab, as well.

And thanks for sharing the pics!

Highly subjective but the CL was only a straight line warrior with mushier than goose crap brakes. The steering was worse than a boat in regards to feel and direction. Obviously Im being sarcastic but the CL for me just didnt move me like the CBS does. Yes the CL was faster but that has never necessarily meant better in my book.

Hey Vic,

Besides the sound and the obvious objective (i.e. numeric) measurements, I'd be curious about your comparison between the BS and your GT-R.

Well you took the main aspects out of the comparo LOL...

The GTR doesnt make me a better a driver thru skill or training; its just an easier car to drive fast IMHO. Its not an inspiring drive but more of a thrilling one due to speed. I feel like Im in a big shell driving that car almost like playing a video game (cliche I know). The game allows me to turn, speed, corner and brake but the feel is not as involving. In the CBS I am part of the car, like a big go cart. The car isnt exactly point and go, you need to understand the chassis, steering, and use the RWD to modulate the throttle correctly into, thru, and out of turns. But its the better driving experience than that of the GTR- even if the GTR traps over 130 mph (mine modded).

I know you wanted to me skip over sound but I cant. To me, sound is so important in the experience. Hearing the rpm's go up and down and the backfires during acceleration and during downshifts make this car. In the visual department, the CBS wins. Although Im ok with the GTR looks (some are not) the CBS is just a menacing look- the wide fenders, aggressive hood, rear fascia, and the wide open front make it awesome. There is always something faster out there, its said often, but too often faster is NOT better looking and in this case the GTR comparo holds true; its faster but not better looking. I know what car I'd want daily.

Interior is a wash, the GTR isnt all that bad but the Dinomica (is that right?) seats in the CBS are really comfortable and supportive. The GTR has blind spots galore and just feels so big... but IMO they are about even on interior- The GTR Black Edition does get Recaro seats and alcantara headliner- the CBS does not have an alcantara headliner.

I went with brushed tinted. Not sure when they'll be ready, but Lon is the guy handling the order.

Vic,

Thanks for the GT-R comparison. I agree with your assessment about the BS versus other AMG's. In my limited experience, the only other AMG that approaches (and in some respects exceeds) the subjective driving feeling of the Black is the SLS.

Enjoy the car (maybe for more than a year?)

BTW, get used to the attention you will get just going to the supermarket.
