Rear Tires

Im in need for a new set of rear tires, and i was wondering if anyone ran a wider size tire in the back? I'm curious if a 275/35/18 would fit with no issues.

Also what are the exact specs of a stock wheels?

Most people have said that 275/35 18 fit without issue. There is a ton of threads on this.

Rear: 18x9 ET +54

In my opinion 255 Michelin Super Sports are perfect.

I ordered 265's...and took them off the car within 24 hours. The side wall was just too big and bulky and looked really awkward compared to the front. I then ordered 255's and measured....they're only about 2mm narrower then the 265's and the sidewall looks MUCH better.

In the pic below, the clean tire is the 255, and the dusty one is the 265. You can see, the difference in width is definitely not worth the ugly look of the sidewall IMO.

Who the hell buys tires for looks?! Yes, they don't look as good as the shorter sidewalls on a 255 but the upside is that they make the car look lower!

To the OP, 275s fit on the stock rims. I'm lowered on coilovers about an inch or so and have had no rubbing issues, even during spirited mountain runs. 275s might be questionable on aftermarket rims because I have yet to see any with a 50+ offset.

Well I guess I must be crazy because the 2mm of difference in width was not worth making my Mercedes look like a tubbed out drag car.

My car IS lowered and in my opinion (<--key word, opinion) the 265 Super Sports make it look stupid. Pilot Super Sports have a larger sidewall then most tires, so maybe a 265 or 275 in another brand doesn't look as bad, but these were not acceptable in my book.

Well i replaced the front tires not long ago and they are the Pirelli P ZERO NERO All Season. I'm getting the same brand in the rear as well. I would like to possibly see pics of either a 265 or 275 on the rear.

I just took the P ZERO NERO's off the rear of my car, and they had plenty of mileage left on them. They were definitely smaller then the Super Sports, so with those I bet a 265 might look fine.

Have you had the P ZERO's before? If not, I'd definitely reconsider. The rear were absolutely DREADFUL in rain and wet conditions. I used to think my rear tires were bald based on how the car handled wet, even though there was 50% tread left.

I'm now running the P ZERO's in the front and Michelins in the rear, until the fronts wear and then I'll replace them with Michelins.
