If I was buying a set of AMG wheels, how can I be sure they are genuine OEM when there are lookalikes like these https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...heels-pro.html that look real?

Check on the back side and you should find a MB "Star" and a MB part number.

On my C63 5 spoke wheels the part number on the back is A204 401 39 02 for a front wheel. They are made in Germany by Bobret K1 and have various certification stampings, the size and ET.

benz part code

A Passenger car parts
B Accessory parts
BQ MBUSA Domestically-assigned part numbers
C Commercial vehicle parts
HWA Special passenger car parts (generally AMG)
N DIN (German Industry Standard) parts
Q Not a valid part, used as a placeholder in some EPC catalogs. Usually 12 digits, often all zeros. Do not confuse with BQ part numbers.
W Special tools
X Some commercial vehicle & light truck parts

I use this for a ref too........
and plus one on the above

also, check for clear demarcation of the numbers/letters/star - any blurring or smoothing could indicated they have been re-sprayed after a repair (sometimes worse than replicas!)
