15K for a blower for the C63 is looney.

I think Mike probably saw the limits of the C63 and decided to move on. I did the same without taking it to anywhere near the level he did. I still have my C63 though but I would consider trading it for a CTSV in the near future.

Thanks.

Yes, I seriously considered adding a blower to the C63 but ultimately decided against it. I wanted to start fresh with a new car and the V was at the top of the list along with a few other vehicles. The fact that it's supercharged and can easily be modified was clearly a deciding factor.

How much are the 2012 Vs going for, if you don't mind me asking? You can PM me if you'd like. I don't plan on getting one anytime soon since I just picked up my second C63, but it is good to know what a "great deal" is in the CTS-V land. Does Caddy also have trunk money or other incentives like MB?
Thank You.

If you're in the market for a 2012 now is the time to buy.

GM is currently offering a $1000 cash rebate on the 2012 coupe or 0% financing for 36 months. Plus if you are trading in a qualifying 1999 or newer non GM vehicle they will give you an additional $2000 off.

The 2012 sedan has a $3000 cash rebate or 0% financing for 48 months and an additional $2000 for a qualifying trade in.

I qualified for a $5000.00 rebate on top of the dealer discount.

+1. $15k for the supercharger + installation labor ($2-3k?) is way too much. And that is without a widebody rear to accommodate meatier tires. By the time you are done with all these upgrades, you may be down $25k or more. May as well sink that money into a platform like the V that has a lot of potential and comes with 285s in the rear from the factory.

I still prefer the AMG brand and the way the C63 looks and sounds over the V, but if you are a 1/4 mile and drag strip junkie like a few forum members here, you can do a lot more with a forced induction platform like the V or the GT500.

All these cars are pretty amazing and special in their own ways, so you can't go wrong with any of them.

You nailed it Jim.

The C63 is a great car, no doubt, and I had loads of fun with it but it was time to cut my losses and move on to the next depreciating time bomb.

That is a pretty awesome deal. Not as great as the "trunk money" deals we saw on the C63s in the past, but considering the V doesn't have the inflated option list of most German cars (my C63's MSRP was $83k!!), it is a pretty good discount. I configured a 2012 Sedan on their site with the options I would want and it barely edged past 70k. A 2012 C63 with similar options and P31/LSD can easily touch $80k.

So what kind of dealer discounts can we expect on 2012 Vs on top of the manufacturer incentives? Another 5-6k?

Agreed. Easily another 25K in mods.

285's are a plus but according to some V owners they are running a 305 in the rear on the stock 9.5 wheel. Have to research more and see if it really can be done.

If I trade my C63 I will also get another 3K in employee discount off that VIN but I will lose the 2K in trade incentive unless I dump the Z06 too!

Still good for 6K off MSRP though. Damn you Mike! My wife is going to divorce me!

I negotiated a few hundred dollars under 5K. It didn't take long, the dealer wanted the car sold and he knew I was shopping different dealers. I probably could have received a little more off if I tried harder but I think I made out okay.

does it drive and handle as "lean" as a c63 - limited to no body roll, feels light for it's weight? What's the weight of the coupe and sedan?

congrats btw, always liked the CTSV...i think I want my next car tho to have DCT or PDK tho

Rebate or 0% financing, not both.

Thanks.

So far, it handles better than I imagined and feels much lighter than it weighs. I'll get a better idea once I attend the Monticello Motor Club day of racing with nothing but V's courtesy of my dealer.

Not 100% sure about the weight. Probably 4200 to 4300 lbs. The manual gearbox models being lighter.

Ahh, big question there. Did you go with the auto?

Yes it is. Though the Weistec unit is a very nicely engineered piece. I had a chance to get up close to the unit when JrCart was in Fontana and Vegas and hopefully Josh will be in Vegas soon so I can get a ride in his. Would be nice if the price will come down a lot as the years go by. In addition, you need to factor in the headbolt replacement if you have a car that has the old style headbolts as added insurance.

The unit looks great and very well engineered, no question.

Other factors include tranny upgrades to deal with all that new found power. By the time your done you will spend 25K easily.

Congrats on the purchase. It's a great car. I just bought one for a friend and shipped it overseas. It was pearl white and fully loaded. Recaros are must have option in the V's.

That is just a Corsa sport axle back. I run the airaid intake and corsa sport axle back. It's the perfect combo and no need for a tune. People have dyno'd 500whp with this combo and no tune. Tune and you could be looking at more.

I'll try to find you a coupon for 15% percent coupon for either item and pm it to you.

If you plan on going with headers the corsa sports might be too loud with them, unless you like that. I don't know how far you are looking to go as far as mods, but these setups sound great imo.

Good luck
