I have a three bay garage with two doors and a 9'+ ceiling. I don't want to use up any vertical wall space to hang one or two hoods because I need it for built-in storage. Are any of you who have ended up with a spare hood storing it/them flat, essentially against the ceiling? Is there a system that lends itself to that purpose w/o hanging too low, say no more than a foot?

You could buy one of those hard top hoists? Or, you could have a "ceiling shelf" made to slide the hood onto. It would be kind of difficult, even with two people to balance the hood, climb two ladders, and slide the hood in.

I have mine in my spare room on the floor. I keep it in the box that my ther one came in. It's very inconvenient this way, so I will be storing it in a family member's garage. I'm kind of lucky with that option.

Use a pulley system that drops the shelf when you need to get the hood down.
