Feedback: EVOSPORT EVO2 Front Rotors
We recently Ordered A new set of front rotors for the SL63 from Evosport. It previously had the EVO1 genereation rotors. We completely destroyed those rotors. I thought I should pots some photos for you all that are interested in viewing the differences between the EVO1 and EVO2.
This is how the EVO1 rotors looked like, as you can see, they were completely destroyed.
We weighed the Evo1 rotors and it came out to be 10.5 Kilograms each (just like it was when we first fitted them)
Now,
getting the EVO2 rotors fitted
Look at the curved drilling, those provide better cooling than the EVO1. They weighed @ 13KG. They are a little heavier because they have more material that provide better heat dissipation and can handle the heavy SL63.
And Now fitting them:
They Look Absolutely sexy

Wow, what an improvement in terms on look!! Give us feedbacks on the braking performance!
Seeing all the cracks between the drilled holes on ur evo1 rotors is scary... how safe is that?

The new rotors look amazing!! Your last set were in VERY rough shape! -The change was more than needed!
+1 for more information on how the new ones perform!

on my gt3, cracks developed on new stock rotors after one track day and are absolutely normal. this is why slotted is preferable over drilled for heavy use.

I have a set from their first generation. They make a clunking sound when you press the brakes. Apparently, they were warped when manufactured. When I inquired last year, I received the "never heard of that issue before, you must be the only person in the world that ever experienced that..." (paraphrasing). So, I call back this year and ask about the new rotors and I state my interest in them. Then I casually ask "these ones don't clunk when you press on the brake pedal, do they?" To which they responded, "no, that only happened to one manufactured batch." So, it looks like mine came from the defective batch.
From what I understand, they should be safe to use... I only used then for like 2,000 miles. I plan on using them on my next rotor change, because I already have them... But, if have to buy another set of rotors at some point, it won't be from Evosport. The clunking sound is embarassing and makes the driving experience of such a nice car feel cheap. So, yeah, not too happy with this brand overall.

My pleasure. Glad to be helpful
I know about them, but unfortunately, they don't have a front set for the SL63. Though they do have a full set for the C63

This is perhaps due to a bad bolt on installation? Or were you using some other brand of brake pads other than OEM?
Our EVO1 rotors were beaten heavily for abou 11000-12000 miles in a hot and humid Middle East without any clunking, even right before we moved them, I did not witness this.

I really dont know what to say, I am sorry about your issue. The SL63 was fitted with the EVO1 rotors and we never had those clunks that you experienced!

Installation was done right. I had an indy shop take them on and off twice and a MB dealership once for troubleshooting. Evosport told me there was a bad batch. Good to know they hold up at high speed with all the cracking.

Car has been driven for about 50 miles so far with no problems at all. Rotors are completely safe. I went up to 290 KM/hr. Braking from that speed was super smooth.
