DIY how to quickly adjust your rear mikegpr03's way

You perform this mod at your own risk a d I assume no liability for any damage or injuries that might ( god forbid ) occur

Gents I know like most of us with coilovers we hate having to take apart the whole rear suspension to go up or down ( specially whens you just need that tiny but more drop to get it just right ) So the three options is

1. Buy an MB style spring compressor $200+
2. Take apart the whole rear suspension to do it ( takes over an hour and you will need to re-set your toe in/out for proper tire wear.
3. My way $ 35+ and a six pack and depending if you have air tools or hand style tools the job will be done between 15-35 mins for both sides

For the sake of documenting this I used a lift to shoot better pics

Once the car is up, you take the spring compressor I bought at advance auto parts $ 35.99

Take it apart like the top part of the spring compressor

And take 1 leg off the spring compressor section you removed

After you take the dust cover off slide this section into the coil closest to the cup/top of spring

Once that part is on, bolt the leg section that you removed off the top part of the spring compressor ( now the top part should be bolted on like so

No slide the lower part of the spring compressor thru the hole under the control arm

Like so

Screw the lower section into the top part you bolted on

Turn the lower section until the spring is low enough and releases the cup on top

Then turn the cup to the desired height and in screw the spring compressor until the coil mates back on the cup. Unbolt every in succession and move to the other side. I hope you enjoy your cheap new found ability to adjust rear height fast and without needing to re align your car.

Really man, I have some time this weekend, according to the guy that mounted my new wheels two weeks ago told me my car was lower on one side then the other. I'm thinking in the back since I did the front my self I few months back.

Thank you guys . Frank, best way to check would be to place the car on flat level ground and check. You will allways be off on 4 corners by at 2-3mms tops ( you need to account for weight and how the car sits. I don't know about this weekend but email me your # and we will touch base. I will do my best to help you out ASAP
This is the best part of this forum we can contribute as a whole and make owning ours cars a really fun experience. Enjoy guys I will be comming out with a really nice tool ( patent) that will make it super easy to do stay tuned. Ohh and no silly MB mark up just a decent cost to cover building a really nice tool with a reasonable price.

A lot
Thanks for the post... so if I'm reading this right... you can adjust the OEM spring perch to 'lower' the rear?

And is there a way to adjust the front ride height as well? All still with stock springs/shocks?

Thanks,
Dave

Hey Mike, do you mind reposting the pictures? For some reason they aren't showing up, it says photobucket doesn't have the pictures anymore.

I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
