guys , some advice . i purchased 2 lightweight 17 inch rims that are 8inch wide for rear. Can i fit a 275/40/ hoosier on them for drags . i currently put a 245/40 hoosier , grip is great on take off but dont seem to get better 400m times and lower exit speeds .
Any advice here or some explanation to my problem .
i am new to the drag scene so really will appreciate the advice .
thanks

Your rolling diameter of the 245/40 is smaller than 275/40.
So your trap speed will be lower.

Wheel spin makes the track longer so trap speed is higher. Since you are hooking up now, your trap speed is lower.
You should have a 245/45, in that case you can put a 275/40 on that wheel as long as it will fit the car. The catch is that with the 275 you can't go to lower air pressures or the tire will cup.

How does spinning make the track longer if your not moving??
275/40 will dead hook with good prep at 18psi, factory stall converter.

thanks guys , will try the 275 tyres .
My car is very strong on dyno comparitivaly to the other cars here but just dont seem to be in he top times . what would you guys expect on 1/4 miles times if the car does 340kw on the wheels with 520nm torque . i am currently only managing 12.8 and 185km/hr speed . i guess i am doing lots wrong .
what would you guys expect times on this power .
i only have software and exhaust currently.
thanks

Because trap speed is calculated.Originally Posted by Merc63

Saying it will dead hook is a very broad statement, track conditions play a HUGE role in that.
couldnt really figure if that was the problem , it hooked up well but maybe it was too light thus no weight on rear to propel forward .
