although I have been on and off lately on this forum. But I am sure someone must have come up with an idea of filing an official "group" complaint (or writing an official letter or something) to Mercedes Benz about this issue?!? I remember seeing like this few years ago about other topic on this forum and had positive feedbacks. ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Has anyone tried to communicate with Mercedes Benz??!

Im thinking of installing the black series oil cooler ! I could get it for a fairly reasonable price and hopefully it will let me enjoy the car for more than 10 minute blasts at a time. The bigger more efficient BS oil cooler will deff help lower oil temps but I wonder if that will have an affect on how early the car goes into limp mode since it seems to be tripped by the transmission oil temp? is that a seperate cooling unit?
Maybe we can piggyback that cooler off the black series as well

IIRC there's an active discussion on the AMG PL regarding this issue, and they (AMG) have been communicating to customers via that discussion, but that was a while back and I thought this had already been resolved. Going to check it out now.

HI fly2nite,
Thanks for your reply.
Sorry I dont fully understand what means by "IIRC" and "AMG PL"??

It has been resolved!!?? When and where can I get more info. because I am in the middle of dealing this issue with the local Mercedes Benz in Hong Kong and trying very hard to tell them that their recent ECU upgraded didn't solve the problem, so any previous resolved cases in other places would definitely makes my life a lot easier...!!

Thanks in advance.

IIRC = If I remember correctly
AMG PL = AMG Private Lounge - the official AMG forum of Mercedes, you have to have an AMG VIN number, and apply for access to it, thus the "private." It has cool perks though, they do free giveaways and it's typical for AMG engineers and other AMG personnel to respond and take part in active discussion on the forum.
It doesn't sound to me like it's been resolved yet.

I'm surprised some you track guys don't demand revised radiator, oil cooler, intake configuration etc, etcaftermarket parts like is available on the rice rockets?? Why not ask the German touring car cats?
I sympathize with limp mode. Only time winter , 30F, hill climb home on snow and ice, limp mode at about 245F. Had to park and walk home with coyotes howling.

2012 C63 coupe P31/LSD
I just returned from willow springs. We ran the big track.
Low temp was about 30 and hi was about 55 for the day.
Had my rear diff and engine oil changed before the track day.
Had a blend of 100/91 octane in the tank.
Ran very hard- between 5-7000 rpm the whole time.
Stayed out for 6-7 laps at a time, With open hood and water spray cooling periods in between runs.
Was very surprised to have no limp issues at all.
Car ran very strong and saved face running against some highly moded vipers.
Oil temp was between 250-275, mostly around 260.
Going to change fluids again soon.

Overheating C63
I have just returned from a track day having experienced these problems of the car going into limp mode usually when the oil temp reached 142 degrees c effectively ruining my day as i thought something serious was wrong. Its a 2012 model C63 does the software upgrade work and will my local dealer be aware of it.

You'd think that with all of the testing the C63 has gone through that this "limp mode" would have occurred when subjecting the vehicle to the high temps. in Arizona and other hot places during the endurance testing. How could this not occur if it is occurring to those that track the C63 and not to the test cars. Also, Mercedes-Benz has decades of racing under its belt so fixing this should be relatively (if not cheap) easy for their engineers. The amount of loyalty and trust MB would generate would, in my opinion, far outweigh the cost involved in retrofitting these cars to run cooler and handle track duty without going into limp mode (which is embarrassing not only for the driver but for the reputation of the C63 and MB too). At this point, my '13 sedan with the P31 package has not gone into limp mode even when driving on a two lane country road in M mode with the AC on and outside temp at 103 F. At the hottest the oil temp. was 235 F and coolant was 197 F.
