After reading all this, I may have nightmares worrying about the engine coming apart. It's an eleven purchased in March 2011. So far only thing required was right side cam sensor replaced. They did put some sealant on bolts on lower right side of engine near motor mount. Some oil was seeping out.

The only way to tell for sure is the vin#. If it's in the range of the MBZ service bulletin, its a problem. The oil leak you mentioned may or may not be related, but the fix for the head bolt issue substantially more complex than just applying sealant.

I kept seeing high mile C63's on eBay for $20k and thought hmmm....

Nice car but that still seems like a lot of cash given the mileage. After seeing this, no way. You're about to see a lot of very unhappy 2nd owners who are going to get a bill for more than they paid for the whole car.

Perhaps a naive suggestion*–*not a mechanic*–*as the M156 head bolts run through a coolant / water jacket and failure is apparently due to corrosion related weakness ... are there any preventative chemical additives that can be mixed with the coolant to prohibit / reduce bolt corrosion?

The head bolt issue in the early M156 engine is well documented as insufficient strength at the head of the head bolt. The head of the bolt can crack or break off, resulting in loss of clamping force at the head gasket. A redesign of the head bolt was all that required to correct the problem. I have not heard of corrosion being a factor.
