I like the new ones, but I'm not convinced that I would pick an ML over a Rangie.

I drove the new ML350 for a month before selling for a profit. It is a day and night difference to the last model in the same way the last model was to the one before it.

Very luxurious feeling (especially with the leather dash etc), powerful, excellent driving position, ambient lighting looks amazing at night, intelligent light system is fantastic, feels great and easy to drive etc. The only things I didn't like too much was the lack of side support in the seats, handling not as sharp as I want, I wanted even more power and a better sounding exhaust, but this is from a guy who drives a C63 daily and then compares it to an ML350 but that's how good the new ML is!!

In fact owning the 2012 ML350 pushed me to seriously consider an ML63 as my C63 replacement. My visit to AMG in Affalterbach this past September closed the deal! Now the long wait with associated nightmares (....when sleeping)!

Congrats, here you again! I remember almost four years ago waiting for the C63 and we all roamed this board until we received the car. Your choice on the new ML63 is going to make you very happy. I will be driving one in a few weeks on a track at a AMG Driving Academy, I will let you know how it feels! When are you to receive this family hauling monster?

Look at every thread talking about the CTS-V, everyone keeps saying "love the engine and transmission, hate the interior quality"... and that's on a CADILLAC! Guess what a Jeep's gonna be like to ride around in; Dog sh*t.

Two big problems with the Grand Cherokee SRT8. One, they took an excellent, off-road vehicle, stuffed a big V8 into it, and then completely crippled it for off-road use (no low range gearbox, for starters).

Secondly, it's a $50K Jeep with a $20K Jeep interior, even with all their luxury packages on it. It's nice.....for a Jeep. Compared to a good, European interior, it's pretty crappy.

I like the looks of the new ML, and it seems to have a pretty decent interior in it. Still not quite as luxurious as a proper Range Rover, but getting better than it was (my 2007 was nothing special). Again, the biggest problem I have with it is that it's yet another 4x4 SUV that is completely incapable of going off-road. And I get that the target audience for these cars are people like my wife....who want 4WD, and a high seating position, and room to stuff the dogs, 3 kids and enough stuff for a 6 month safari into the back.

It's not a knock on the ML specifically, but rather all of these 'soft-roaders'. They're pretty much useless at anything more challenging than winter roads. They are mini-vans for people who are too image conscious to ever be seen driving a minivan.

I'd wait until the 2014 SRT8 is released which will have an 8 speed auto. A 5 Speed auto in a 60K+ car is ridiculous in 2012! I don't have any issues with the interior though...I'd say it's better than my old 2010 C63 interior.

I have a 2012 Durango R/T and would agree that the interior is superior to both my C63 and the GLK that I had previous. Doesn't hurt that it was about $5,000 cheaper than the GLK either. If the new SRT8 has a towing capacity near 6,000 pounds the Durango will be replaced very quickly.

Agreed, I think there is a bit of euro-snobiness going on here. I've driven the old SRT and the new SRT, and the new SRT's interior is better than ours, period. Also more technologically advanced. I'm not saying its a "better" car Im just thinking some of the advice given may be based on assumption and brand whoring vs reality.

The RS5 is a dud, trust me. I bought an 03 RS6 new and an 08 RS4 new. Both were special cars, especially that RS6 with the Cosworth engine. Audi put an RS5 for me freely, which I knew I would want. One of the first to come to U.S. I drove it and was hugely disappointed. Basically the same engine from my RS4 four years earlier. Looks great, sounds pretty good, but very anemic. You really have to juice it out of that engine. Less torque than the standard S5. Reminded me a bit of my E46 M3 with the 25 meter/second piston speed and high redline. On the track maybe fun, but not on the stree, to me....

I'll be waiting for the new NSX. Hope to have my 2013 C63 paid off by early 2014 when the NSX is supposed to go on sale.

Make sense?
More like a $20k difference between the two options when you factor in sales tax and first year depreciation. Invest that amount for 20 years and buy yourself whatever you want.

I also agree that the new SRT8 has a nicer interior than our C class and some here are just basing their opinions on old cliches.
I just sold my C yesterday to a forum member and now looking for a new toy. I am about to pull the trigger on a CLS63 but looking at everything else right now.

I used to have a 2008 ISF. The 2011+ has a LSD, upgraded suspension and other stuff. And frankly, cost of ownership of the MB is very high! It is not a boring car.

Congrats on the sale .

It's been interesting to follow those who had early model year C63's and what they have moved on to. My choice was a little radical as I no longer needed a sedan or even a back seat and I have this itch lately to support "Made in the USA". The exception however is the 1199 Panigale that my wife has not yet embraced. For some reason she can't understand why someone would want 2 motor bikes?

Please keep us updated with your selection!

Thanks 1st AMG! Thanks for bringing back the good memories. I remember the searches for pics, vids, reviews... basically all we could find. Yup the dreams are back even had the one where I accelerated and the exhaust was silent! Freaked the hell out of me till I woke up.

I believe the SLS is the true step up from the C63 but I will have to wait a wee bit longer for that baby I hope you are enjoying every minute of it!! I drove it on a track in Germany last year and all I could say was wow!! and need to work much harder!

Please take lots of pics and videos if possible... A la Ferraris vs C63..... variety. that vid still cracks me up. Plus I'm keen on your impressions on the track even though I won't be tracking mine but it gives a good feel of how much it can handle. Please compare the PP and non PP versions if possible. Also actively look out for one with a multiple-contour front seat option as I want to see if the seats are still AMG bucket style or ordinary looking. Plus if they are useful for further securing you into the seat through adjustments of the side bolsters. Ya, I miss the C63 seats. Thanks a ton in advance!

I expect to see it around March '13.
