Two questions
1. Will it fit on 2009 sedan?
2. What color is it?

Keep in mind that the BS hood is aluminum. I don't know what the stock 2012 hood is made of but if its steel then there will be a weight savings to the BS hood vs stock. Anyone want to stick a magnet to the stock 2012 C63 hood and see if its aluminum or steel? The 2008-2011 were all steel. The BS is the first aluminum hood I believe. When it comes in next week I'll weigh it and give you the weight.

I don't know why car manufacturers would still continue to make hood and trunk lid out of steel. The benefit of lower center of gravity is obvious. The cost difference should be minimal. Unless they are just holding back so they can add the aluminium at later model years to claim improvement and justify the price increase. Even the old regular Subie Impreza from two generations ago had aluminium hood.

Seriously. And fiber glass has been used for how long? Maybe our cars would get slightly better gas mileage if it didn't weigh 3700lbs.

2012 Coupe is aluminum, just checked mine. Magnet does not stick to the hood or front quarters, but does stick to the doors, pillars, etc.Originally Posted by Dads C63

Yes, we have a '12 Sedan, & although I've never checked, we were advised that one of the features of the '12 was the weight saving aspect of an aluminium bonnet.
Cheers, Pickles.

The thing with fiber glass is issue with painting them since it's difficult to get the paint to stick. There are also other problems with fiber glass as shown on earlier corvettes. Thus GM decided to do away with fiber glass.

Yeah definitely aluminum. I should know since I had a small dent I needed taken out via paintless dent removal and all the guys who quoted it would tell me its a bit extra because the aluminum is harder to work with than stell.Originally Posted by Pickles
