Thanks bro, it was a little ballsey on my part and it took about 4 hours in total with 4 coats + a clear coat + the drying in between but I like it although understand it may not be to everyone's liking.

I am considering having the star removed and holes filled and just having the C63 and the AMG badges on there. Getting a Brabus grille and lime green callipers so can't wait till it's all done.

What did you use to paint them red? Red plastidip? I'm looking to make my emblems and badges red when I wrap my car matte black.

Hey bud, plastidip not really available over in Dubai yet. Prior to this they were professionally painted black. I just put some paint thinner on them to take off all the dirt, washed them off with soap and water and allowed them to dry, then took some Krylon red gloss spray paint for plastic and sprayed them. In total I put 4 coats on and then put a clear coat finish on them for protection. Temperatures over here are 45 degrees + and so far for 2 months there's been no damage what so ever and they still look like new. If the worst comes to the worst I MAY (and may not) have to redo it in 1 year but I still have half a can full and all this cost me was $9. Good luck with yours.

Yes that car was based on our Cadillac Catera (pre-CTS-V) which is also your Holden Commodore. This car was also sold in Brazil as the Chevy Omega. Your SS was mid-model refresh that went well in to mid 2000s while that car stopped prodcution here in 2001.

However all makes of that model are based on the Opel Omega which never got a V8 in our market or Europes.

Really? Isn't the Omega a much larger saloon similar to the Caprice and not the Lumina? This shape (now my wife's) went on until 2006, then it was replaced by the next generation SS which stepped up to a 6 litre engine and more squarish looks. Then they brought out the CR8 based on that which was a real monster. Unfortunately in 2009 Chevy stopped making the Lumina and CR8. It's still made now though in Australia as the Holden.

Caprice is off a lengthened platform based on the Omega Just as it is today.
There were two generations of your current lumina. Yours is the refresh done in 2005.

This refresh was done in late 05 and 06 but then in 07 they brought out the completely new shape. Fender vents were different, engine upgraded from a 5.7 to a 6 litre, fenders and fronts were square instead of round etc. 4 rear exhausts instead of two etc. Now in 10 they ended it which was a shame cause it was such great value for money. Basically the same price as an Accord or a Camry.

This is the 07 - 10 Lumina SS which now stopped production but they're still building it as the Holden in Australia.

We had that car here as the G8 which only lasted a short time before Pontiac folded. I think 08 was the final year.
But in February we will get the new Chevy SS, i've read it will come with the same supercharged motor as the ZL1 Camaro. You guys should be getting a version of that too.

Did you guys ever get the CSV CR8 version over there? It first came in 6L V8 (LS2) format and then was upgraded to a 6.2 V8 (LS3). That went from 411HP to 425HP and 520Nm.

Does it really surprise you that your wife won't drive in the car?

You make the choice... loud and more obnoxious and drive it less or stock and drive it more. My wife thinks the car OEM is too loud but because it is OEM won't complain. If I purposefully made it louder, she would likely have a similar response. My personal feeling is the car is loud enough as is but that's just me... I actually think MB got it perfect from the factory.

Thanks bro

but that's one too many assumptions and as we all know assumptions are the mother of all f*%k ups.

There's actually more non-Middle Eastern people in Dubai than there are Arabs. And it's only a few countries in the Middle East (from over 15) that get married to more than one. LOL
