C63 coolant warning level.

This morning let my dad pull my car out and I go to start it and it wouldn't start right a few times... maybe my fault because I let go of the break really soon using the keyless go... ok no big deal... it did blow a heck of alot of blue smoke or coolant... I thought coolant smoke is normally white.

3 questions

What is the cold level of coolant in a 2008 C63 it says there is a line on the white container I couldn't see it for the life of me. I think its down about a half 1/2 and when the car was sitting on a hill it might have triggered the warning light... I am going to hook up star tomorrow and see what it says.

Being that its winter and the coolant is probably original... do I top it up with prestone and flush it in the spring... or do I just flush it now and put new stuff in.

3rd question if you did change your coolant in the C63 what did you use OEM coolant or some aftermarket coolant ?

The reservoir should have the minimum/cold level marked on it. I would just top it off if it's low... I believe our coolants can last up to 100 000km no problem, at least it did on my Lexus. LOL

Could you take a picture of yours tommorow for me ?

After blowing a trans with "lifetime fluid" I don't buy into any of Mercedes extended maintenance programs... my car has only 40,000km and it looks kinda dirty to me. For 50 bucks or what ever it costs I might just change it out... I'll test it to see if its still good first, and check the car with star to see what the error code was.

Haha...MB Service 13 - every 240,000km or 15 years - Replace Coolant

If it is low just get your dealer to top it off with a proper mix using MB Coolant.

How to check the level is in the Operator's Manual look in the index under Coolant. (with pic)

- Coolant temp< 70*C
- Parked on level ground
- Remove reservoir cap when cool, use a rag to protect your hand from scalding
- There is a small tab/marking bar you can see looking into the opening of the reservoir that is the cold level mark
- The level is fine if the coolant reaches the bar when cold or 1.5 cm higher when warm

GL

Car is no longer on warrenty plus I don't like anyone working on it other then me. That's what my manual said too but I was expecting the marking on the outside of the container... I am going to go see what star says about it now.

I wonder why the factory filled coolant is a blue like color. But the one you buy from dealer is yellowish.

Hey Just to be on the safe side, read this:

https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...-bad-news.html

Not trying to scare you but inform you that it could be a more serious problem and if it is you should stop driving it! But lets just hope you are low low on coolant.

My car is a 2008 and it just got a coolant flush about 300 miles ago. After 50000 miles it was giving me a low warning when parked on hill and cold start.

Here are the pix my car has been sitting for 4 days without being turned on.

So It's basically at the level of where the white clear tank meet the upper black part?

When you did the flush did you use oem coolant if so what colour was it before and after... apparently its supposed to be blue mine is not blue.

I just got a coolant low message, bought some coolant at the dealer and it is blue/purple. But the coolant in my tank looks yellow, should I be mixing the two?

the blue stuff is the 10yr/150k coolant, the yellow/clear is 3yr. they will mix fine but you'll need to change it sooner.

If your headbolts became an issue you would have coolant in your oil. Have your oil tested.
